Jun 3rd 2009 9:05PM I wouldn't pay for Hulu. Torrents again I guess.
Merlin season two coming this fall, while season one hits the US in June (AOL TV)
May 27th 2009 2:12AM I don't understand why people complain about historical inaccuracies in Merlin. Almost all reputable historians now agree that Arthur and Merlin never actually existed, they're just legends, not real people. I can actually understand nitpicking at The Tudors over historical inaccuracy, since all of those people actually did exist, but Merlin? It's like complaining that Harry Potter is historically inaccurate. It's a fictional world people, not a documentary.

May 24th 2009 3:58AM I too, am gobsmacked that many people are just now picking up on the fact that Cooper is gay. I knew at the end of the first episode. He's in a bar that has no women in it, across the bar from the male prostitute that his vice cop friends had arrested earlier that night. The bartender is a very sexy looking guy wearing a tight white tank top. Um, duh?
VLC video player hits 1.0 (almost) (Download Squad)
May 14th 2009 5:41AM I've been using GOM Player. It plays everything VLC does, and it looks a lot nicer, both its default skin and the many nice ones that can be downloaded from the website. The image quality is also very nice. I watch all my movies and tv shows on it at fullscreen and they look great.
The developers of VLC should really consider de-uglying their app; I think more people might try it. This may seem like a trivial or superficial consideration, but the way an application looks really does make a difference to most users. I installed VLC on my mom's computer about a year ago so that she could play some videos that WMP wouldn't play, and the first thing she commented on was VLC's lackluster appearance in comparison to the admittedly very pretty (but very crappy) Windows Media Player 11. I installed GOM player for her a few weeks ago and she hasn't stopped using it since. Link: http://www.gomlab.com/eng/
Are Supernatural fans ruining the show? (AOL TV)
May 10th 2009 8:52PM "For that matter, why hasn't he put a bullet in Sam's head? What, exactly, what all that whining in the second half of season two about? Not even a mention last night."
Actually I think this was mentioned. It's always been obvious that Dean could never follow his father's order to kill Sam, because he loved him too much. But in the last episode when Bobby told Dean they were killing Sam by keeping him from drinking, Dean replied, "Then at least he dies human. I would die for him in a second, but I won't let him do this to himself, I can't. I guess I found my line. I won't let my brother turn into a monster." The finding his line comment was him referring to his father's dying command that he should kill Sam. Dean couldn't follow it then because he couldn't see evil in Sam. Now he can see it, and tragically, Dean can now conceive of letting Sam die to keep his soul intact. Granted it's an oblique, subtle reference, but somehow I think Dean saying, "Hey Bobby, remember back in season two when my dad told me I might have to kill Sam? Yeah, I thought he was a complete wackjob then, but I'm totally there now," would be somewhat clumsy.
Are Supernatural fans ruining the show? (AOL TV)
May 10th 2009 8:25PM I have been a fan of Supernatural since the beginning. I think the show was always great. The monster of the week stuff in the first couple of seasons was awesome, and it let us get to know the characters in a really organic way. That being said, I think the show is getting better all the time. I think Kripke and co. have always kept a great balance between pleasing the fans and maintaining creative integrity.
It's really only a small but obnoxiously loud (IMO) minority of the fans that constantly complain about the show. Sometimes I wonder why they even watch it if it ticks them off so much. The Sam/Jared Padalecki fangirls seem to be the worst. I honestly don't understand how they didn't see "Sam goes darkside" coming since SEASON ONE. It's always been more than obvious to the rest of us. Not that his character is inherently bad, but because of his history and the demon blood, he's bound to struggle with his dark side. But they don't even know yet if his dark side wins. It might seem like it will now, but why can't they just sit back and enjoy the ride and find out?
"It's no coincidence that once the brothers' relationship began to show signs of strain, the show started to take off with a larger audience. This development brought new life to the show and shook off the formulaic stupor it was falling under."
This comment makes me think you haven't actually been watching the show that long. The brothers' relationship has been under strain since season two, and at no point do I think it was falling into a "formulaic stupor". Have we been watching the same show?

May 10th 2009 8:03PM I agree. I did not interpret either of the episodes mentioned as pandering to fans. "The Monster At The End Of This Book" mentioned the fans, but it was actually kind of poking fun at the more obnoxious ones in my view.

CSI: If I Had A Hammer - open thread (AOL TV)
Apr 25th 2009 10:04PM This episode was kind of weak I thought. It kind of seemed like some sort of law enforcement propaganda as well, because I found it extremely arrogant and frightening that nobody seemed willing to even consider for a moment that the guy could be innocent. The fact is that people actually have been wrongly convicted, even in cases that involve everyone's favorite smoking gun, DNA.
Would you like to see Brian Austin Green as The Green Lantern? (AOL TV)
