Those iPod touch MIA features (TUAW.com)

Jan 16th 2008 5:19PM Weird, I still have it. But at least they added a "no thanks" button, so at least it'll stop nagging me every time I plug in the iPod.

Those iPod touch MIA features (TUAW.com)

Jan 16th 2008 5:01PM I updated to 1.1.3 but I haven't paid for the apps. I can't move the icons, create Web Clip icons, or display lyrics.

After updating to 1.1.3 all I have is the new Dashboard-like dock, and a "1.1.3" in the About screen.

Jan 16th 2008 4:57PM Exactly, James. And lyrics display is an update to the iPod part of the touch, and you don't get that either.

I'm fine with paying for extra apps, but I don't remember ever paying for software updates. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect free software updates for a product, since almost every piece of electronics I own, from my phone to my Wii to my PDA, gets free software updates from time to time. This feels like asking me to buy iLife just so I can update to 10.5.2.

They can't give away updates because of SOX? Then why didn't Apple use a subscription model like with the iPhone and the Apple TV? I'd like someone more knowledgeable in accounting to explain some reasons for not doing it that way, because it seems as if they didn't just so they'd have an excuse to charge for updates.

At the very least a warning or disclaimer would have been nice: "This product is not entitled to software updates, ever."

Making pesto is simple (Slashfood)

Jun 20th 2006 11:22PM So simple, so delicious. I sometimes add a jar of sun-dried tomatoes for a nice variation.

Google Calendar officially supports Safari (TUAW.com)

Jun 17th 2006 6:18PM The Google Calendar overview page (http://www.google.com/googlecalendar/overview.html) now lists Safari 2.0.3 as "fully supported broswer".

Amendment (TUAW.com)

Jun 14th 2006 4:53PM I thought it would be a good idea, but after trying it for a few minutes, I think that pop-up is more annoying and intrusive than it is useful.

SuperDuper 2.1.2 (TUAW.com)

Jun 14th 2006 1:02PM This was posted on TUAW a few weeks ago, but it might be worth reminding people of Sitening's great article on Mac backups: http://www.sitening.com/blog/2006/05/23/how-to-backup-your-mac-intelligently/

White MacBooks Turning Yellow (TUAW.com)

That doesn't mean it's fake, they could have just cropped or resized it with Photoshop.

Google Earth goes Universal (TUAW.com)

Jun 12th 2006 4:31PM I agree with Stefan. This version runs like crap on my 15" PowerBook (1.5GHz, 1.25GB RAM). At least they updated the imagery for Caracas, though.

Dan Lurie Incoming (TUAW.com)

Jun 10th 2006 2:39PM That bag looks really nice. I'm using a huge Targus case that's absolutely breaking my back, so I might pick one of these up. What other bags can you recommend?
