Bacteria creates Bluetooth SNES controller, makes smartphone gamers drool (video) (Engadget)

May 7th 2010 10:30PM @milrtime83 The only problem is that you have to have the wiimote as well if you want to use the classic controller, which would be preferable for use with emulators of certain consoles. If only Nintendo would have made it usable standalone. It would be the perfect controller for most emulators then.

Nokia serves North American X6 up for pre-order: $455 unlocked (Engadget)

Feb 24th 2010 6:46PM @MikeZ I'm also an N900 owner but mine cost well over $450. I'd say the price difference is worth paying (I

'Extensive' 90-min Darksiders demo on XBL, PSN Feb. 25 (Joystiq)

Feb 16th 2010 4:07PM This game is on my "to buy" list, but I have a bunch of games to get through right now so there's no way I'm picking it up now. If they want me to run out and add it to the pile immediately, then they should make it cheaper immediately. Otherwise, I have about 5 or 6 other titles to get through first, all fairly long games, and hopefully I'll have seen a price drop by the time I get to this. A good friend of mine has this game and recommends it heavily, but I don't see a reason to spend $60 to let it sit in the pile for a month or two. Sorry Vigil. Maybe you should have timed your release for the summer drought or something.

Final Fantasy XIII director comments on linearity, early reviews (Joystiq)

Feb 16th 2010 11:47AM You know, I find there are plenty of compelling stories within western RPG's. The lack of linearity may have made them less accessible to people with short attention spans but they're there, and I'd say they're generally more compelling than the typical animu dreck in most JRPGs. But that's personal preference. These games sell well enough that I'm sure someone loves these effeminate loners with giant swords. The big problem with JRPG's is the amount of grinding I have to do in every game to progress. This is a byproduct of the linearity, since most JRPG's only give you XP from combat, and there's little opportunity outside of the story to level. On the other hand, western RPG's give you experience for any number of things and the games generally scale to your experience. The numerous side quests give you a way to gain experience while remaining compelling side stories and not forcing you to revert to the grind. If I have to sacrifice some story to avoid the grind, that's fine by me, I can just borrow some anime from my friends if I want Final Fantasy's stories. Thankfully, I haven't had to make that sacrifice, since Toriyama is full of crap.

Just Add Water announces 'Vektar Beat' for PSP Minis and iPhone (Joystiq)

Feb 11th 2010 5:37PM I wonder if this Vektar Beat game has any connection to Vektar for the GP2X. It would be neat if it did. I was disappointed when the guy behind the original release left the scene.

Xbox Live Marketplace Feb. schedule includes $10 Battlefield 1943 [update] (Joystiq)

Feb 9th 2010 4:09PM Yeah, it's a great game when there's no lag. Problem is, there's almost always lag. For a game that's online multiplayer only, that is absolutely unacceptable.
