Jan 19th 2010 3:40PM @der_tuxman: Stop trolling, Avast Free and Pro have had the SAME detection for ages, they've said that many times in their blog. It's AVG Free that lacks rootkit detection. About the popularity, they say Avast is the most popular free AV because they recently reached the 100 million registered users milestone.
Jan 1st 2010 6:17PM People install adblockers because Google does nothing about the rogue antivirus ads or those ones redirecting you to scam websites. I'd be happy to support any website with ads but the risk is too high nowadays. Those ads are not only annoying, they're truly dangerous.
Dec 22nd 2009 8:19AM Yeah, and even in V8, Opera performs beautifully well (compared to Firefox)
Dec 22nd 2009 7:22AM Yeah, the pre-alpha has got lots of bugs, but it's fun to play with.
Dec 22nd 2009 5:41AM Yeah, V8 benchmark is known for being heavily biased, yet Opera performed beautifully well. If you look at some more meaningful benchmarks you will see that there's not that much difference in performance between Firefox and Chrome. Here are some Sunspider results on my machine (Intel Core 2 Duo):Opera 10.50 pre-alpha: 672.8msChrome 4 Dev: 760.4msFirefox 3.6 beta 5: 1249.6msOpera 10.5 is still a pre-alpha and yet it already beats the fastest browser in the world :)
Nov 28th 2009 5:29PM Guys, no offence, but you don't know what you're talking about. Smartscreen is the best blocking malware because it blocks both websites and most of the downloads(exes). On the other hand, Firefox and Chrome's downloads blocking ability is very limited. If you don't believe me, hear over MalwareURL.com and download some nasties (I should warn you though, this is VERY DANGEROUS and you should run your browser inside a Virtual machine. The nasties listed on the website are widespread malware collected on daily basis, most of them are zero day threats undetected by many antivirus)
Nov 27th 2009 9:02AM TPB is NOT dead. They only shut down the tracker, NOT the website. Please, Sebastian, could you correct the article?
Nov 10th 2009 2:58PM Far better than Immunet, it's much more solid in every aspect.
Oct 25th 2009 4:57AM MSE does update independently, I heard about this on MSE's official forums.
Oct 9th 2009 6:50PM @MarkyB86: Ok, I did a bit of research and we're talking about different things. You're referring to Thawte's web of trust (http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=7306)but here we're talking about http://www.mywot.com/
