Certain USB hubs could cause system instability on Macs (TUAW.com)

Mar 10th 2011 7:58AM I have the opposite problem. My mac mini turns on automatically every day and had everything hooked up directly. It would randomly eject my two USB drives which caused a lot of grief.

After searching around on forums I found others with the same problem - and a solution: Plug the two drives in a hub. I used a non-powered one. Been running perfectly ever since.

iOS 4 and iPhone 3G is a match made in... what's the opposite of heaven? (TUAW.com)

Jul 23rd 2010 7:43AM It was horribly slow here till I disabled Spotlight (general / home button / spotlight).

Before that it would only run decently right after a reboot.

Live Chat: Celebrate the worldPad with TUAW (TUAW.com)

May 29th 2010 7:22AM There has been no global launch. Just a couple of extra countries. Yes, I am grumpy.

IRC on the iPad: Colloquy and Linkinus (TUAW.com)

May 29th 2010 6:10AM Limechat was well worth its higher price and support and development has been nice and steady. I recommend Limechat to anyone looking for a great IRC client for iPhone.

TV networks continue to resist iTunes price cuts (TUAW.com)

Feb 23rd 2010 4:10AM "Meanwhile, though TV shows have been available for download in the iTunes Store since 2005, only 375 million shows have been downloaded in that time -- compared to nearly 9.5 billion songs downloaded over the same period. With a reported 125 million iTunes Store accounts, that equates to an average of 76 song downloads per customer compared to a paltry 3 TV episodes downloaded."

This is not a relevant number, though, as a large part of the 125 million do not have access to TV shows.

Sony's John Koller: Apple's entrance into gaming market drives consumers to PSP (Engadget)

Feb 1st 2010 5:13AM The iPad is only underwhelming, if you have an exceedingly underwhelming imagination.

Poll: What do you use your Mac mini for? (TUAW.com)

Oct 24th 2009 5:38AM I'm using one Mini (core duo 1.6GHz) to run Plex and serve up music in the house.

My other mini (PPC 1,25 GHz) runs MorphOS as a desktop.

Payback brings a GTA clone to the iPhone (TUAW.com)

Jan 29th 2009 12:34PM It's a port of an Amiga game.

The original had slightly better lighting after a couple of updates, but having tried the iPhone version it still looks very nice in motion. It looks like the first 3D acceleration version on the Amiga.

It's a better game than GTA 2 in my opinion (which was a step down from the first one even though it was prettier) and I've had far more fun with it than any of the 3D GTA games that followed.

Sprint goes live with XOHM WiMAX service in downtown Baltimore (Engadget)

Sep 29th 2008 11:23AM I've got a WiMAX receiver here and response times are around 40-50 ms for me. It's quite fast and reliable, but then again the transmitter is far from fully populated :)

PS3 sales annihilate competition in Denmark (Joystiq Playstation)

Aug 20th 2007 11:48AM Sorry, but no. It's not so flowery. Nordisk Film Interactive specifically chose Merlin to come with a statement in their press release, because Merlin is not the kind of place that shifts a lot of consoles, because it's a crummy place to shop.

Looking at stats from gamer forums PS3 comes in a distant third place (around 1:3 at best for PS3 vs either of the two other consoles).

It's sadly not the first time NFI have issued a press release that's questionable at best. It probably won't be the last time either. That doesn't change the fact that PS3 is far from number one in the Danish market.
