TUAW Giveaway: Scrivener 2.0 (

Apr 7th 2011 7:28PM Perfect for my PhD research...I'm pretty much broke.

Win a 16GB Wi-Fi iPad from TUAW (

May 3rd 2010 10:40PM It would be nice to have a iPad to use in the classroom with Deaf children. We are the most technology savvy individuals since we use technology as a tool for communication.

Fifteen lucky TUAW readers will start 2010 with a free copy of Pastebot (

Jan 1st 2010 9:18PM I would like to see how Pastebot would help me in my classroom since I teach Deaf Education and Co-Teaching. I find myself using my iPhone as a teaching tool but would love to see how Pastebot would help me in that regards.

First look at Epix internet movie channel (Download Squad)

Nov 1st 2009 8:40PM I had the pleasure to get the invite for EpixHD but to answer your question about closed captioning (CC) or subtitles. The answer is, they do not provide either at the moment. I was hoping the author of this article would write about the disadvantages for the deaf and hard of hearing community. Not to mention that many hearing people use captioning for their benefit as well.

Engadget's recession antidote: win an HP MediaSmart Server LX195! (Engadget)

Jul 20th 2009 12:41PM If you really want to save the world economy why not focus on poverty instead? If every bread crumbs was saved in the world, it would certainly feed those in need in a country like Africa. Again, that is just my opinion.

Now, it would be nice to have one of those for my classroom, I teach Deaf Ed and we use videos as a teaching tool.

The editor-in-chief giveaway: Win Ryan Block's gadgets (Engadget)

Aug 22nd 2008 9:56PM This would be a great way to demonstrate the use of technology in the classroom. I teach deaf kids and most of them are unaware of the needs/tools that the technology provides in their lives. How about it? For the kids who can learn from this stuff?

PowerColor PCS HD4850 graphics card packs 2GB of memory (Engadget)

Jul 14th 2008 3:48PM Consider this...when comparing RAM memory.

Say you got a huge memory and it is like having a 18 wheeler that can carry the load. However, can the 18 wheeler go as fast? No, it is the engine that counts.

Then on the other hand, you got a Ferrari which is smaller but does not carry huge load. Can it go fast? Yes but it cannot carry huge load.

You will need to find a balance between speed and load. That is why I look at two things, the bit and the amount of pipe. For example, if a card has 400mhz at 8 pipe then it is better than 500mhz on 4 pipe.

I could be wrong but that is pretty much my logic here.
