Feb 3rd 2009 3:24PM I am still using Skype 2.5 and I am happy with it (supports video, calls, chat - great!). Since 3rd version Skype is getting worse.
My Skype 2.5 installation uses about 11000 K RAM. The new version OMNOMNOMS about 60000 K.

Use Media Player Classic (included in CCCP) for vids, foobar2000 for audio.

Also I reccomend 7zip, CCleaner, Open Office, Foxit Reader, Avira Antivir Free, Sysinternals Process Explorer (keep this in background (system tray)), VirtuaWin (virtual desktops, I also use some plugins), utorrent, Irfan View, Sysinternals Autoruns (keep the startup clean).

I also use Total Commander as Windows Explorer alternative, but thats kinda "hardcore" xD
