Very public error messages (Download Squad)

Feb 22nd 2007 7:40PM My sister was under observation in hospital (the kind where they open your skull and place a monitoring grid directly on the brain)and I had to sit there for hours on end watching an EEG display waiting for her to have a seizure so they could inject her with isotopes and film the event.

If you knew how many error messages displayed and the times the system (WIN2K) had to be rebooted you'd really think twice before letting them slice an dice through your grey matter....

Healthier Happy Meals down under (Slashfood)

Jun 8th 2006 9:38PM Considering that Macca's (Australian Abbr.) has ended it's marketing alliance with Disney, it's quite possible that the toy in a box may disappear.

Also the Australian Association of National Advertisers is working on its own code of conduct part of which prohibits "pester power", So that advertisements will no longer encourage children to directly pester their parents, to buy particular products for them.

Pierogies--what's missing? (Slashfood)

Dec 7th 2005 6:37AM My Grandmother used to make these (although being from the Ukraine called them Vareneki) and now that she can't, I do and by all accounts not bad at all. And yes for the filling bacon is the key, well actually Spek is. Fry the spek with some chicken fat until the spek browns up (remove the chicken fat), add a jar or a tin of sauerkraut then add double this amount of fresh shredded cabbage, a few bay leaves and some peppercorns, and cover until the cabbage is a nice brown (throw in some chicken stock if you want to speed up the process) make sure there is no excess fluid, then begin the long task of stuffing, then boiling in salted water before baking in a low oven with a good serve of butter, cover so they don't dry out. And for those in Sydney Cyrils at Haymarket do not bad frozen ones although only in mushroom or potato.

Insubstantial Yogurts (Slashfood)

Nov 22nd 2005 7:16PM It has to be Vaalia Lemon Creme. A good strong lemon flavour (like lemon curd but creamy texture), with a cup of fresh brewed coffee, perfect early morning starter. Their French Vanilla runs a close second.
