Samsung prices TL500, TL350, AQ100 and SL605 shooters (Engadget)

Mar 9th 2010 3:06PM Yeah! Let the aperture wars begin!

I just bought a Canon S90 and that F2.0 lens has made far more of an impact on the quality of my photography than any jump in megapixels ever did. I can shoot on the street at night with no flash and ISO 200, handheld. I can also get the shallow depth of field that has always been impossible with pocket cameras.

The F1.8 lens on this bad boy lets in twice as much light as the lens on my S90.

Nikon says it's developing a competitor to Canon's G11 (Engadget)

Mar 3rd 2010 3:22PM If they are going to price it around the G11's $450.00 price, they should seriously consider not putting the word "Coolpix" anywhere on the body. To me, this branding couldn't sound less like a serious prosumer model. It sounds like a name you would slap on a pink plastic key chain camera. The G11 and S90 are technically Powershot models but that branding does not appear anywhere on the camera body.

Mysterious yellow and black cards lead to wild Nikon speculation (Engadget)

Mar 1st 2010 8:35AM I will eat my hat if Nikon (or Canon for that matter) comes out with a Micro 4/3 camera.

This will be first digital entry into the Museum of Forgotten Photographic Standards. A place is being prepared for Micro 4/3 just down the hall from the Disc Film exhibit and just next to the APS gallery.

Olympus PEN E-PL1 Micro Four Thirds camera now shipping for $600 (Engadget)

Feb 24th 2010 2:15PM I don't get micro four thirds. It seems to combine the non-portability of SLR's with the small sensor and reduced features of a point and shoot while having a higher price than either one.

Sony confirms plans for consumer-friendly 3D cameras (Engadget)

Feb 22nd 2010 12:03PM What's with all this 3D madness from manufacturers? Are they getting truckloads of mail from their customers begging for 3D TV's, Cameras and Toasters? I have yet to meet anyone who is in the least bit interested in any of this stuff.

Canon EOS-1D Mark IV survives marathon 33 page review (Engadget)

Feb 22nd 2010 11:57AM This thing costs something like eight grand. It deserves a 30 page review.

Atlona's VGA to HDMI adapter ditches the brick, does 1080p on USB power (Engadget)

Feb 19th 2010 9:49AM @Shokz
Most Plasmas do not have VGA input and most LCD's do. My Hitachi plasma does not have VGA. I'm definitely looking for something like this device as I am about to upgrade my homebuilt PVR for HD.

Hydrophobia rain cover promises to keep your DSLR dry, mysterious (Engadget)

Jan 27th 2010 8:57AM @brown like dookie

Thats what I was thinking. I don't think it would need to be POTUS either. I have found that my SLR itself is a magnet for dipshit security guards all over the place. Trying to walk around in public with this thing is going to cause you to do a lot more explaining than shooting.

Pentax confirms Optio I-10, H90, and E90 budget-friendly shooters (Engadget)

Jan 26th 2010 8:24AM Is it really necessary to print the word "digital" on the body of cameras anymore? Or anything else for that matter? I think it's safe to assume any electronic device is digital these days.

Reminds me of the 70's and early 80's when everything had "solid state" printed on it.

Microsoft Pink targeting teens and twenty-somethings, devices launching in Spring? (Engadget)

Jan 25th 2010 8:55AM @TareG

Worse. It was designed by several committees of 40+ men.

The first rule of marketing to teens and twentysomethings is that they do not like things designed for "teens and twentysomethings".

I imagine this will be nothing more than a modified Windows Mobil 7 install where instead of clicking on "Media Player" you will click on "My Jamzzz" or other such nonsense and will function as Kid Kryptonite.
