Microsoft to Woolworths: Return the 360s we sold you; we'll keep your money (Joystiq)

Jan 7th 2009 4:36AM It was the economic crisis which was the nail in the coffin for Woolworths. The way they used to pay suppliers was to take the goods up front and then pay them back via the money they made off that stock after several weeks.

The burgeoning economic crisis made the suppliers a bit more anxious. The majority of them now wanted the method changed to "you don't get the goods until you pay for them".

Admittedly the company was in a bit of a bind before that but this is what killed it off. They couldn't afford to do business this way.

I also don't see why Microsoft expects these consoles back. On the last day for these stores there was 90% off EVERYTHING. Do they really think there will be any left?

Some stores were even selling faulty ones for stupid prices.

Google Chrome First Impression: Is It What You Expected? (Download Squad)

Sep 2nd 2008 8:25PM I like it. I already have Gmail,RTM, and Google Reader pinned to the Start Menu as "App Shortcuts". Not enough to change over yet but for a beta release this is good stuff!

Lost: Cabin Fever (AOL TV)

May 9th 2008 2:41AM @Imp. I think it's a possibility. It also explains some of the Others fixation with children.

The line Alpert spoke to Locke early in the episode "You have a good sense of the game" is telling. Especially in the light of last weeks episode.

Lost: Something Nice Back Home (AOL TV)

May 2nd 2008 10:17AM The coolest part was seeing Kate giving Jack a new razor at the start of the episode, his bliss evident.

Unhappy Jack with a full beard makes so much more sense now.

Lost: The Shape of Things to Come (AOL TV)

Apr 25th 2008 2:32AM I remember listening to a Season 2 commentary where they discussed the casting of Emerson. He was to come on the show and if not successful they would of passed him off as just a lowly "other". I think the plan was always there to have it be the leader of the others who was caught. They just had a backup plane in case the actor was terrible. They need not have worried. The scene with the Keamy/Ben stand off was amazing.

Also I think the first Sahara scene was the immediate aftermath of Ben traveling from the island via The Orchid. The jacket and disorientation seem to back this up.

Also the "rules" and "pawn" comments seem to sugges this is some kind of Chess game between Widmore and Ben. (Black vs White). And as others have pointed out. A king cannot put another King in check. Hence why they can't kill each other.

I think Hurley was more there out of respect/friendship with Jin.

The two have had some pretty cool (and funny!) moments together since Season One.

Lost: The Economist (AOL TV)

Feb 15th 2008 10:43AM Quip of the night was Hurleys breakdancing line. :-D

Very Bondian/Bourne flavour to the episode tonight.

It reminded us of how badass Sayid can be.

Dexter: Left Turn Ahead (AOL TV)

Dec 10th 2007 2:42AM Hmm. Your airing your views about the WGA strike (which seem fairly misguided btw,but that's just MY view) after an entry on a show that was completely unaffected by the writers strike.

Huh?

Smallville: Kara (AOL TV)

Oct 5th 2007 7:42PM @#1

They never really mentioned which Flash he was supposed to be in Smallville. He had Fake ID's which listed the name of every person who has been the Flash so far in the comics. Jay Garrick,Barry Allen,Wally West and of course Bart Allen. He is mostly referred to as Bart in the show so I presume this is who he is supposed to "be".

If so then it's quite a different origin than the whole Jay/Wally/Barry hit by chemicals/lightning one. They even kinda hinted at it with Barts cheesy "I'm from the future" line to Chloe.
