Add page numbers and other information to Google Documents (Download Squad)

Mar 11th 2008 12:20PM Meh. Google Docs is unusable as long as nearly every keystroke is saved as a "revision." Once they figure out the difference between unlimited-undo and document versioning, then I'll be interested in additional features.

Zenwalk 5.0 beta is available for testing (Download Squad)

Dec 28th 2007 3:31PM I don't get it. What exactly is so heart-stoppingly dreamy about this distro?

New Google Reader feature ignites privacy debate (Download Squad)

Dec 27th 2007 10:21AM "There's no option for users to opt out of having their items shared other than to stop sharing items at all. And there's no way to share your items with some friends, but not others."

Sure there is! In addition to the general "shared items" flag, you can easily specify whether each reader tag should be shared publicly or kept private. Just turn off general sharing, create a tag called "for friends," and set it to be shared.

Yahoo! Mail turns 10 (Download Squad)

Oct 8th 2007 6:34PM Yahoo mail now has some nice stuff, but it's painfully slow compared to Gmail, and lacks the tags I've grown to love.

Facebook IM launching soon (Download Squad)

Sep 26th 2007 12:00PM Good grief, what is the point of this? As if people don't have enough IM options already? As if Facebook users don't have enough ways to communicate? I hope this doesn't take off. I hope I don't have to spend all my time with Facebook open. Wait, make that: I won't.

Dear Facebook: may I have my life back, please? (Download Squad)

Sep 24th 2007 2:44PM "Dear Facebook: May I have my life back, please?"
"Your account has been disabled by an administrator."
"Thank you!"

The hundred gadget giveaway, grand prize round: Nikon D40 DSLR (Engadget)

Sep 15th 2007 6:15PM I so need this camera! I have to go DSLR by January to keep a contracted job.

How would you change the Segway? (Engadget)

Sep 13th 2007 10:08PM Late to the thread here, but I'm surprised that no one seems to share my opinion that the Segway failed to excite the masses largely due to its resemblance to a piece of freakin' HOSPITAL EQUIPMENT. If the standard model had looked half as tough as the later 4-wheel Centaur concept maybe some of the coolerati would have adopted it. The new "x2" model makes some progress in this area, but the original Segway looked like it should have had a heart-rate monitor and an IV pole attached to it, and first impressions are lasting.

The hundred gadget giveaway: round 36 (Engadget)

Sep 13th 2007 12:08AM Engadget is my gear resource of choice. I'd be proud to sport a SanDisk Sansa won from you folks!
