New evidence that digg's staff is pulling posts they don't like? (Download Squad)
May 15th 2007 9:43AM I wish i could 'Digg' this story!
Supercharge Internet Explorer with IE7Pro (Download Squad)
May 10th 2007 12:29PM Nice feature list, however does appear that it's simply copying the best of firefox's add-ons! I currently have all those features, tho the separate add-on downloads are a bit of a pain.
Gmail paper could be real after all - no, not really (Download Squad)
Apr 11th 2007 5:21AM I could be wrong, but i think this feature has been around for ages. I remember contacting Google a while ago and selecting 5 suggestions for improvements of the Gmail service.
Skype to begin charging again for SkypeOut calls in North America (Download Squad)
Dec 13th 2006 4:39PM Sadly i have found that Skype isn't always reliable enough to justify a permanent switch.
Holiday gifts from Flickr (Download Squad)
Dec 13th 2006 4:35PM Great ideas for Christmas, and i've already had a santa hat on one of my photos by another member. But what annoys me with Flickr is the fact that they could easily have the storage to allow far more than 20mb of uploads for free users. They also limit the number of photos that you can use to 200, but they don't delete the old ones, they just don't let you access them. Seems a bit greedy to me - they could limit your uploads so that you don't take up much space, but still allow you to display more than 200 photos.
Bose TriPort OE headphones (Engadget)
Oct 7th 2006 4:15AM TurdPorts! Aside from the shoddy build quality, the TriPorts are pretty darn good headphones! The bass is phenomenal. However, $600 bucks for a pair of foldable cans is a bit ridiculous - hopefully it's just a rumour and they'll only be $20!
Google Blockage (The Unofficial Google Weblog)
Jul 2nd 2006 11:50AM This is not unnusual or surprising unfortunately. The only interesting thing is how long they have taken to do it. Unfortunately the whole country is blocked from nearly all foreign media, so most email providers are blocked.
The fact that Google is relatively new compared to Yahoo and Hotmail is the only reason it's been allowed for so long.
Syncing your FireFox Browser, Google Style (The Unofficial Google Weblog)
Jun 14th 2006 4:16AM Fantastic as i'm about to install Linux on a dual partition and don't want to waste time copying all my settings etc...especially if i use both OS's. However, do i really want Google knowing all my passwords??
Google fights Flickr with Picasa Web Albums? (The Unofficial Google Weblog)
Jun 14th 2006 4:06AM It's just been announced on the Google blog and sounds like a great feature. I'm tired of exporting my pictures from Picasa and then uploading them to another host like Flickr.
However. Flickr is popular because it has users. Just like Youtube. Sure, Web Albums may indeed be better (i don't know because you have to be invited - possibly a gimmick to increase popularity) but the key to its success will be in it's user base.
If it can make headlines quickly and people start putting their photos online, then it could be a big hit. However, the fact that it allows other people to download your pictures may put off some users from displaying more 'Arty' pictures for fear of copyright infringment. And if it only attracts users to put pictures from drunk nights out - honesty...who's going to spend time looking through them?
Oh, that and they need to get their tags on Picasa sorted out if they want to truly compete head on with Flickr. If it stops deleting your tags by accident and if you can upload your photos complete without having to re-tag them...then it could be an all out winner.
