Adobe's CEO: 'we've moved on' from Apple's argument, and Flash still rules (Engadget)

Aug 16th 2010 2:49PM @APV
HTML5 is not an "Apple's Open System" for it doesn't belong nor originated from Apple to begin with. They merely implement it for their devices/browsers as does Mozilla, Google, Opera, etc.

Adobe's Flash property is freely available for anyone to use for multiple platforms. Kind of similar to how mp3 format is freely available for multiple platforms, and it's also closed sourced. Yet nobody barks about them being "so closed off to the world!" since anyone who needs it can easily implement it to their own hearts desire.

Nokia N8 pre-orders go live in the US, $549 for 'end of September' delivery (Engadget)

Aug 16th 2010 12:46PM @angelusp It's hard for consumers to buy what's good when they barely hear of said product. It's even harder when said device is out-of-bounds from what customers are used to when purchasing a device of that caliber (e.g. only subsidized, the only subsidized deal for it not compatible with Family or Business plans, not available for demoing in stores).

Epic 4G review (Engadget)

Aug 16th 2010 2:11AM As I noted in your Vibrant/Captivate review, you guys seriously dropped the ball in the hidden settings such as the "Night Mode" which would've made a great difference from your initial review of those phones quality indoors (the one picture you take is with this mode turned off it seems), say that to say I have some reasonable doubt you guys done as much fiddling with the Epic to find any of the settings Samsung hidden away to get any noticeable better quality out of the Epic's camera for stills or video.

Aug 14th 2010 7:05PM @HighestRanked1 So "open" software doesn't mean anything anymore eh? Gotcha!!

So does that Google can expect some gangbang humping on their legs about them also using the Linux kernel despite that being open source?

I'm on the assumption that Sony needs Google here more then Google needs Sony. There's enough of a growing catalog for Android gaming with NFS and Home Run Derby being among the slowly growing steed of 3D games available. More importantly, Android is pretty much THE hottest selling phone OS as of now - meanwhile Sony is #2 - 3 in game sales with the iPhone surpassing it in terms of sales (by how much is questionable since that could account for many casual games like Snake or a Tetris clone). And with SE being pretty very well behind the Motorolas & HTCs in terms of mobile phones they can damn sure use a revival of sorts. So it would be Sony/SE doing the same pleeding Motorola did last year when Google helped them out with the original Droid upping their reputation.

HTC Glacier leaks out in GLBenchmark database, boasts really high scores (Engadget)

Aug 4th 2010 12:46AM Has to be one of the single core 1.2'ish Mhz Snapdragons announced earlier, I'd imagine a Dual Core Snapdragon surpassing even the almighty Galaxy S stuff.
