5 must-have back-to-school apps for your computer and smartphone (Download Squad)
Aug 20th 2010 6:26AM Skype do NOT offer apps for Android and Blackberry. It would make mine and my girlfriend's life a lot easier if they did, but they don't, so I don't know why you've printed that a fact.
Apple looking to hire iTunes Fraud Prevention Specialist (TUAW.com)
Jul 7th 2010 6:00PM I think Apple are just posting these job descriptions to tide the blogs over and make it look like they're doing things; it's probably just a PR trick, and they might not actually hire anyone.
Could a closed Mac be in Apple's future? (TUAW.com)
May 20th 2010 7:32AM I don't see the issue - we'll just jailbreak the closed version to get to the open version, surely?
Manage your DNS settings for faster web browsing (TUAW.com)
May 16th 2010 6:32PM Just use OpenDNS - well known, trustworthy and very reliable. No need to muck about with anything else, really.

Lessons from Marcia Brady: why Eric Schmidt should resign from Apple's board (TUAW.com)
Jul 11th 2009 11:20AM On the other hand, Eric Schmidt's presence could convince Apple to release iTunes (and associated software), MobileMe etc. for Chrome OS. After all, Apple claims to have no interest in producing hardware at the low-end of computing, so why not capitalise on software for other people's operating systems?
Ask TUAW: OpenCL support in Snow Leopard, Boot Camp, automatic importing into iPhoto, and more (TUAW.com)
Jul 8th 2009 11:40AM New Question:
Having just discovered the Web Sharing feature, I've been using it to serve media files to my iPod Touch and other Windows computers in the house... but is it possible to create symbolic (or hard) links that let me access other parts of my Mini's hard drive, instead of having to copy content over to the web server's folder, in a format that Apache/my web browser will understand? A simple "ln -s [target] [new location]" command didn't work.
Entelligence: Time for Microsoft to tell a better Zune tale (Engadget)
May 24th 2009 4:43PM The point of a high capacity iPod is not to fill it with thousands and thousands of songs you'll never listen to, it's to fill it with the music you want PLUS videos (tv shows, films etc.), which obviously take up much more space.
iCombat's stats on app pirates (TUAW.com)
May 17th 2009 7:41PM That's more or less it, they strip the DRM from an app they've bought and release it to the masses. Of course, the people releasing the cracked apps to the masses have to pay for it, but by "contributing" to the piracy they feel less like they're just taking advantage of others' hard work. Pretty warped logic, but it's how The Pirate Bay etc. works, and only a select few need to actually buy the apps, the rest are just leechers.
TapTapDial makes phoning and driving safer (TUAW.com)
May 17th 2009 7:26PM It doesn't much matter if you're looking at the screen or not, it's highly irresponsible to focus your hands and mind away from the road. Although I suppose things are slightly different in the US compared to the UK (and Europe); you don't have to change gears and most of your roads are straight and deserted. Which is why texting, dialing, eating food etc. is illegal in the UK if it distracts your attention away from the road, but not in the US.
Mac OS 10.5.7 update now available (TUAW.com)
May 12th 2009 6:07PM For some reason, whenever I try to install the update, I get told the digital signature is wrong and have to start again.
