Big Love: The Writing on the Wall (AOL TV)
Jun 19th 2007 3:29PM This has to be one of, if not the best, 'family' shows on television. Not family, as in letting the kids watch, but as in seeing the machanics of the interpersonal relationships that are almost unbearably close.
As for the author feeling queasy about the compound, I believe that is the point. Bill et al are supposed to be the normal side of that lifestyle, which I see nothing wrong with. If the women agree to it, and no children are being harmed, it should be legal under freedom of religion. After all, certain Indians are allowed the use of psychedlic drugs as part of theirs, which is more normal, or less damaging?
At first, I thought this would be interesting to see the sexual relationships of the show, but this man has so many problems to solve, he deserves any sex he gets.
I also am glad I stayed with it, because through the first five episodes of the first season, I was starting to wonder why I was wasting the time. This was definitely a slow starter which, had it been on any network, never would have made it to a second season.
The Tonight Show: No fireworks between George Carlin and Ann Coulter (AOL TV)
Jun 17th 2006 8:12PM I did not see the Tonight Show with Ann Coulter and George Carlin, but....
1st question : What relevant information does she have that needs to be communicated on late night television. She is neither insightful or funny, so what is the point?
2nd question : Why should George Carlin have to keep quiet? Although he might not have been up for the challenge. He has been THE funniest man on the planet until about 2 years ago, and I am still a huge fan, but in the last 2 years he just isn't that funny, that incisive, or even that clever.
3rd question: If you've been watching Leno to see a great interview you must be......high? Great interviews went away with the last host. Johnny knew how to be funny, and rip some idiot like Coulter a new one in such a clever way even she would be amused. Leno was hired because he was funny in the monologue, which is all many people watch anyway. When Leno got the job Letterman wasn't any better, but he has gotten much better at interviewing, maybe even become skilled at it, as his show is much better for that. The really bad news is that when Leno leaves Conan will take over and completely alienate the rest of NBC's nighttine audience.
List of Sony rootkit CDs now available (Download Squad)
Nov 10th 2005 12:43AM This is just another reason that I buy less discs than I used to. I don't steal music, and I hate the sound quality of mp3's, so I buy CD's. But I look at it this way...once I buy it it is mine, and as long as I don't deprive the artist of any revenue I am entitled to do as I wish. I usually copy a disc 4 times. Once for each of my cars, so I have the disc when I want to listen, one in my stereo in the living room, and 1 in my computer. These are all for me or my wife and I put the original away so it doen't get ruined. If any of these copies were ruined [by heat say....I live in SoCal so it is very possible that a cd in a car can be ruined by heat] I would have to buy another copy according to this new licensing scheme. Also, I don't like the way the software insinuates itself on the computer, and takes away performance from my machine even when I am not listening to the disc. Also, it has been shown that this software makes further infestation or attack possible. All without a nod or a wink by Sony. The companies should make the discs something that people want to buy, by including things in the packaging that will make people buy the disc, making the purchase of the hard copy indispensable.
