$10 USB power outlet leaves no plug behind (Engadget)

Dec 5th 2009 11:20AM the outlet is (by code) installed upside down. The ground should be on the top. The reason is that in the event something metal, like a wire on a back of a picture, or even a large paper clip of metal pens, somehow falls along the wall, you want it to 'hang' on the ground, vs. hang on potentially a hot wire.... few outlets are installed properly.

Feb 14th 2009 12:50PM @vandil .. IBM selling it's hd business had nothing to do with that. Hard drives are a commodity business, generating really really crappy margins. Wall Street wants IBM to operate at 40% GP+, for which hard drives will not. It's that simple. They have exited all low margin business segments... the only exception is PCs, and it's a loss leader offset by higher margins on other h/w lines.

"IBM hiding their work" ... under any commercial contract, when an employee is working on a project for company "A", that company, i.e. 'A" virtually always insists that no part of their work is shared with any other company, say company "B"... so it's not hiding, it's called basic business 101. If IBMers shared information of the three project between themselves, they would have violated contracts.

The authors are simply business immature.

All three companies, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo got massive tech benefits from their IBM relationship...and BTW, that's why these three companies gave their business to IBM.

Oct 11th 2008 3:14PM most likely DHL is sitting behind their standard "force majeure" clause, and would need to prove that they took all reasonable preventative actions to avoid a train derailment.... my guess is that they'll win this one, as DHL doesn't own the tracks, nor the rail car, nor the employees driving the train...

MS would do better to go after the railroad than DHL...

IF MS against DHL, DHL will go after the railroad....

BUT...the odds are that this will be settled on the side, for a far less amount....I'd guess 500K, which is closer to the pure product costs of the boxes, and equal to how much the legal fees would be to defend....
