Samsung Galaxy S preview (Engadget)
Jun 21st 2010 1:15PM Galaxy S is too wide and thin thus too fragile
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
HTC HD2 already has a number of users with a broken screen due to its too wide and too thin body: http://www.htc.com/www/product/hd2/specification.html > 121×67×11mm (width/thickness = 6.1, height/thickness = 11)
Now the Galaxy S is even worse:
http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Samsung-Galaxy-S-phone-p_4522.html > 122×64×9.9mm (width/thickness = 6.4, height/thickness = 12.3)

Windows Mobile 6.5 cellphones coming October 6th (Engadget Mobile)
Sep 2nd 2009 9:53AM Clearer releases please MS
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
I read that MS is releasing WinMo 6.5 on 06 Oct 2009, an upgrade in Feb 2010, a WinMo 7 in Oct 2010 that will compete with iPhone while WinMo 6.5 will continue to sell and compete Android, and that WinMo 6.5 will have a new Pocket IE called "Internet Explorer Mobile 6", and a new Pocket Office (with undisclosed name and number).
So people will be fooled into believing that WinMo 6.0 and 6.1 devices will have the new IE "6", or hesitate (and possibly mistake) buying a device with 6.5 or 7.
Microsoft would be clearer and more successful IMO by following these changes I submit them:
- On 06 Oct 2009, name "MIE6.5" (Mobile Internet Explorer 6.5) its browser, and "MOF6.5" (Mobile Office 6.5) its Mobile business suite
- Drop any intermediate upgrade in Feb 2010 or else (MS does have its bad sides, but one very good has been for 3 decades to consistently issue *few* versions but well prepared in marketing *and in product*, which makes a clear version history, a clear product line, and, despite competitors' hype, more reliable products)
- Come in Oct 2010 with WinMo 7 as announced, but make it *what customers except*, i.e. a *successor* to 6.5, able at the same time to compete with iPhone and Android. And of course name it and its browser and business suite "WinMo 7.0" (Windows Mobile 7.0), "MIE7.0" and "MOF7.0". The "7.0" is important: if they call it just "7", then when new releases come (e.g. "7.1"), then bad vendors will use it to sell "7" items as still up-to-date. Deceiving customers is NOT in the interest of Microsoft.
