Trust me, nobody could have considered themselves less musical than me. I also received no musical training and come from a totally unmusical family, and considered myself completely hopeless until I accidentally (long story) took a piano lesson in my mid-40s. Piano is very forgiving to the beginner, and you will pick up the theory and "ear" as you go. And you will have a lot more fun than playing a computer game.

Maybe if this were a story about Sarkozy standing on a box at a G7 photo op it would be relevant. But these are just cheap personal remarks about somebody's physical appearance that (a) he has no control over (it's not like he's wearing a cheap suit or a bad toupee or has an orange fake tan) and (b) unrelated to the story.

I can't imagine you writing the equivalent jibes about a politician who was fat, ugly, or had a receding hairline, but somehow height is the last acceptable domain of people who think it's OK to make personal remarks about others' appearance -- because, of course, you're so perfect yourself, right?

Less attractive than showing heavily-edited events on tape delay, long after most people know the results from other sources? Less attractive than around 10 minutes of actual sport per hour, the rest taken up with backstory bios, studio talking heads, teasers for the next time the only American you've actually heard of is on the ice, and more ads per hour than a home shopping network?

The way NBC covers the Olympics, it really doesn't matter what timezone they take place in, not even if there is somewhere on the planet where it's *always* 8pm Eastern/7pm Central. How much money do they have to lose before they begin to question whether they might not have this coverage thing completely figured out?
