Flock social web browser adds Digg, Pownce, and AOL Mail support (Download Squad)

Jun 2nd 2008 12:37AM Hey Claire,

You should be able to access your AOL Mail through the Webmail icon in the upper right of the browser. If it's not showing up there, drop me a line.

May 14th 2008 7:45PM Thanks for the great writeup, Brad!

@Rambn: Here's a little insight into how enhancements get into Flock:

As I spend my days diving through various forms of community feedback, I log votes for each feature request. I then add my own valuation, based on how many people I think it will affect, how serious it is, etc. I then take the top enhancements and get a level of effort estimate from our developers. We then use that to prioritize which items go into the browser.

Twitter word wrap is a priority 1 on this list for the next major build. I expect it'll make it in.

Netscape 8 Update Forthcoming: You Can Flock Too! (Netscape Blog)

Mar 25th 2008 2:48PM Hey folks,

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Evan Hamilton, and I work at Flock as Community Ambassador. This means that I get to spend my days interacting with all the great people who use Flock.

Welcome to the Flock community! We appreciate that Netscape 8 was your browser of choice (most of the original Netscape 8 team now works at Flock) and we know that transitions can be hard. That's why we've built in the automatic Netscape-to-Flock import sequence. You'll see this during installation, but if you miss it (or need to try it again), you can access it by going to File>Import and choosing Netscape.

We are confident that Flock will be a great experience for you once you've transitioned, and we always invite feedback on how we can make Flock even better for you. You can submit feedback at http://www.flock.com/feedback or you can just email me directly (my address is below).

Once again, welcome to Flock! We're very excited to have some new Flockstars join us, and we're looking forward to making your browsing experience stable, safe, and social.

Flock 1.1 beta will add web Email, Picasa and more to your web browser (Download Squad)

Jan 18th 2008 11:03PM Hey varun,

I don't know how to convince you that it's true...I have my search set to Google right now and it hasn't changed no matter how many times I restart. Perhaps you are not following the path correctly:
-Open Search Preferences
-Change your Default Search Engine to the one you want
-Close the dialog

It is slightly more work to change the search in the URL bar, and we have the instructions available on our FAQ. Here's the link: http://flock.com/faq/show/30#q_11642

As for restoring last tab, I have never experience or heard of any problems regarding this. Please shoot me an email to evan at flock dot com and we'll see if we can't diagnose this issue you're running into.

Let me know if you have any further problems changing the search engine!

@Bruce: We're always working to improve Flock's performance...in fact, we've made a number of performance enhancements in the last 6 months. If you haven't tried Flock lately, give it a look and see how it runs. Of course, we will be updating our code to reflect the Firefox3 codebase as soon as it is completed and released, so I'm sure you will experience some of those Firefox3 performance boosts in Flock soon.

Jan 17th 2008 11:00PM Hey Blog Jones,

You can switch Flock's search to any engine you'd like (literally...Flock will detect any available search engines on a webpage). You just go to search preferences and change your default search provider.

Flock on,
