Aug 4th 2006 5:42PM So, does this mean they are just getting some free hype because they have a big pocketed competitor that someone doesn't like, or is coinciding with a desire to acquire money from someone somehow?
Color me skeptical.
Billy Bragg to MySpace: You'll get nothing and like it! (The Social Software Weblog)
Jun 14th 2006 1:46PM Well, it sounds pretty bad, based on the legalese. And, honestly, who can trust a company not to commercialize items if it has a legal right to do so? Heck, we can't even trust them when they don't have legal rights to do things!
Anyway, if MySpace is sharpening up the language so that it is only granted a non-exclusive right to publish said content on it's own network for whatever purposes it likes, instead of actually acquiring any ownership, then it should be alright, in terms of black eye possibilities, I think.

Jun 9th 2006 12:57AM Psst, Mark, over here buddy!
LOL, seriously though, when a small company turns into or gets gobbled up by a bigger company, everything changes. Suddenly you have an evil HR department and everybody starts to worry about policies and procedures instead of being on a wild and rewarding crusade to change something.
Umm, no, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!

May 20th 2006 1:41PM I'd be curious to hear about employee movements between the two companies. It's very difficult to imagine that expertise won't spread between them slowly but truly -- even though I expect their cultures are very different.
Alternately, with the stakes so high, is it reasonable to speculate about corporate espionage (via third party consultants of course)?
Update: Hudson Hotel responds. (The Jason Calacanis Weblog)
May 18th 2006 8:53PM I don't know. Based on your tribulations and the fact that they weren't able to address your issues in a serious and timely manner, your comments about their Internet savvy manager does very little to make me imagine I'd want to stay there.
Making the effort to move heaven and earth to fix the problem and impress you, so that you'd end up with only glowing praise would have been nice. However, as much as I hate to imagine it, there is an entire world of people that will never read blogs... sigh.
Microsoft launches "Get Ready" program for Vista upgrades (Engadget)
May 18th 2006 7:44PM A get ready tool? Are you kidding me? Well, no, unfortunately not. Who does MicroSoft think they are anyway, the death star of the IT world, enforcing compliance with their own brand of standards as a means of keeping competitors at bay? Oh, my bad, never mind.
