Ask DLS: What's your favorite mobile app at the moment? (Download Squad)

Mar 17th 2011 2:39PM My most-used app is probably IMDB, then Wikidroid. FiOS remote app is pretty cool. Handcent is a good txt messaging app. yeah... exciting.

How Secure is My Password lets you know just that (Download Squad)

Also, this site could be harvesting passwords to add to the rainbow tables.

AVG Free update cripples Windows 7 64-bit (Download Squad)

Dec 3rd 2010 8:54AM @EuroSceptiC You shouldn't be so trusting. Microsoft has a long track record of releasing patches through windows update that break things. It goes with the territory. That said, Security Essentials is pretty nice.

Facebook to launch alleged "Gmail killer" on Monday? (Download Squad)

Nov 12th 2010 9:38AM Gmail is too awesome and Facebook developers are too retarded to ever make something that could compete with gmail on a technical level.

Install Android 2.2 Froyo on your jailbroken iPhone 3G over-the-air with Bootlace (Download Squad)

Diaspora's "open Facebook" source code riddled with security issues (Download Squad)

Sep 17th 2010 8:54AM Why release a "pre-alpha" anyway? So not only do these kids not have any decent programming sense, they have no business sense either. I suppose they wanted to show off that things are progressing, but this probably was cue for a lot of people to write this project off as a pipe dream with an immature development team.

I've always hated the term "pre-alpha" by the way. And I believe the whole philosophy behind alpha and beta releases is to NOT release the code to the public before it is alpha or beta. Just another indication that these guys are over their heads. Also, what the hell is wrong with people giving these guys all that money when they didn't demonstrate that they had competency to pull this project off? Fail.

Google Apps Marketplace celebrates 6 months with a dozen new apps (Download Squad)

Sep 14th 2010 3:07PM So Insync is actually sponsored by google then? I was apprehensive to try it out thinking it was like a new version of gmail drive that google could disable at any point.

Windows Live Sync dies, zombie Live Mesh is reborn (Download Squad)

Aug 30th 2010 8:25AM Hopefully they fixed the issue where Live Sync (beta) breaks SMB and CIFS. I had installed Live Sync beta on my w7 box and I could no longer connect from my WDTV Live to my file shares. Many users report this same issue that deals with some sign-on assistant app that gets loaded with Live Sync. After removing the whole Live Essentials package, things returned back to normal. Do I dare test it out again with Live Mesh? Does anyone have any success to report with this issue?

Adobe Photoshop Express for Android taken for a spin, leaves me a little unsatisfied (Download Squad)

Aug 25th 2010 3:47PM Agreed. Also, what's up with the slider interface they use? It seems rather arbitrary. Say you're adjusting the brightness... If you click the left to drag right, it starts at negative-something and goes up to 80-something if you drag all the way to the edge. You can seem to eek out close to 90. Starting from the left again (like picking up your mouse) puts it back to negative. WTF? There doesn't seem to be any way to max it out.

This thing is basically photoshop in name only. I'm surprised they were willing to slap the photoshop name on this thing. It's a handy tool, but I'm not impressed.

Adobe updates Photoshop.com, releases Express Editor, Organizer and Android app (Download Squad)

Turns out, you need to have all your photos on your SD card. So I plugged in the USB and copied the 60 or so from my phone memory to my SD card and viola! All better now.

The photoshop app offers a few more features for touching up your photos than the camera application on my Incredible. Mostly it seems like an interface to photoshop.com for uploading photos. Meh.
