VLC app removed from App Store (TUAW.com)
Jan 9th 2011 1:34PM This is very simple, but users who think 'free software' only means 'free' as in 'free beer' or have a self-entitled attitude will misunderstand and not appreciate the point of this guys actions, as the author of this post has.
The license holder objected to his code being unlawfully distributed in an app which violates the license of the original. It's not their code to give away redistribute under someone else's (Apple's) terms! This is a legal issue which is why Apple complied. Moreover, this is the *entire* point of the Free Software Movement.
To draw a parallel to blogging, look at it this way:
Can I scrape all the content on this site, host it on another and then say 'hey it's all the same thing. As long as people see and enjoy it, who cares who gets the credit and pageviews? It was 'free' to begin with, wasn't it?"
My 2 Cents on CEO Pay (Blog Maverick)
Apr 15th 2008 4:59PM Pay them in S&P Futures, since the broader market influences their general success -or- failure, half of the time. Takes the day-to-day share price pressure off, and still rewards the executive with equity-based asset.

It's not stupidity -- it's arrogance. And he has shown himself to be that arrogant.

Sam Zell is going to lose billions on newspapers and the Washington Post has no idea what they're talking about. (The Jason Calacanis Weblog)
Apr 7th 2007 9:10PM Zell has proven himself an extremely smart guy & great business man in the past as a successful real estate entrepreneur.
Unfortunately, the newspaper/content business in 2007 is not the commercial real estate business of the past!! It is absolutely astonishing to me that by the Tribune's own admission, their online efforts are "feeble," and essentially sub par, yet he thinks they're going to become successful by starting to charge for them?
If no one is reading you when you're FREE, even less will read you when you're NOT free!
Somebody send Sam a copy of Cluetrain, please - He
clearly doesn't "get it" Even though now he's got it.
Metasearch is illegal.... or is it? (The Jason Calacanis Weblog)
Apr 6th 2007 2:21PM If the metasearch provider was exclusively an adsense account holder using it alone to monetize the SERPs, Somehow...I think they would look the other way on it, don't you think?
Dutch voting machines hacked to play chess (Engadget)
Oct 6th 2006 10:39PM This is inaccurate. A Dutch group of hackers did this to a Diebold machine that's used in Ireland not the Netherlands. I think someone misconnected the dots here
