Dec 27th 2007 3:49AM Other than gtk+ themes looking nicer than KDE themes, I mainly like gnome because it looks good by default in a vanilla installation without any need for customization while KDE needs extra customization to look decently good. This is why most distribution incorporate artwork into KDE. I use ArchLinux and we ship a vanilla gnome so it looks exactly the same as if you compiled it from source using official tarballs. And it still looks very nice.
