Jan 3rd 2011 12:48PM Sure, you get the *impression* of better illumination, while being less capable of seeing what you actually need to see. There are enough fools that drive around with fog lights on all the time without Autoblog suggesting it as a way to improve on poor headlamp illumination.
Jan 3rd 2011 12:11PM "We used the fog lights in conjunction with the main beams just to throw a little more light on nighttime situations."Foglights illuminate right in front of a vehicle; a totally different beam pattern to headlights, and not the area you need to see when driving at night. In fact, by illuminating that area more brightly than that covered by the headlights tends to make it *harder* to see the area ahead of you that you actually need to see, and *decreases* your safety. Foglights are only for use in reduced visibility and fog. To use them at other times is a safety hazard.
