Notion Ink smartpad comes with Tegra, aims to be first Pixel Qi device (Engadget)

Dec 18th 2009 6:13AM This looks like the dream device I have been waiting for for years. No seriously when I was still I school I 'designed' (well sketched) what my ideal gadget would be. This meets and exceeds my expectations.

My only issue is the android stuff, I have seen great stuff done with it on phones but I dont think It is mainstream enough for a tablet. What if I want to run 'real' apps instead of silly old school arcade games etc. I accept that better webapps could be an answer to this down the line, but bandwidth restraints and their quality is far from mainstream.

It really is a beauty. I want one now!

Maxell launches flash storage line (Engadget)

Aug 4th 2009 3:58PM In Ireland and UK we have had Maxell Flash cards and usb sticks for years. I have about ten of their usb drives somewhere. They are usually the cheapest. But they don't last very long. I don't think I've ever had a flash drive that lasted a year without breaking or getting lost.

May 5th 2009 9:16AM sorry lads, I should have read above before i posted. Anyway, maybe by then there will be a Windows 11 beta or something to try out? ;)

Windows 7 RC 1 now available for public consumption (Engadget)

May 5th 2009 9:12AM It finally allowed me to download! I was just clicking on the button and nothing was happening. I

t was faster to download than the beta, Here in Ireland It took 2 minutes averaging around 12 MBps download. I remember waiting hours for the beta to download.

Lets hope the OS is just as fast!

I just saw on the Microsoft website there now that instead of the RC lasting until July 2010 like mentioned earlier, Windows will begin to shut itself down every two hours in March 2010. What the hell is that all about?

More Windows 7 details emerge ahead of PDC (Engadget)

Oct 27th 2008 4:59PM yeah well, I hope they address this in Windows 7.

I had to reinstall windows live messenger just today and a similiar annoyance occured. the installer asks me on FOUR different occasions if i wanted to set my search to live searh and install the live toolbar. Serve your customers, microsoft don't badger them.

I don't mind bloatware as long as i at least have the option of uninstalling it!

Oct 27th 2008 3:00PM I'm a bit of an inbetweener here, not a novice not an expert so bear with me if i make any mistakes.

I have worked with windows vista since it was in beta, and i really like it, On my machines it does run fast, and it is relatively pretty.

I HATE internet explorer with a passion, and windows mail, gallery, 'anytime upgrade', Calendar, UAC, games... etc.
So i use third party apps. like firefox, etc.

Why is there no option to turn these off, like in previous versions of Windows. I'm sure these add some bloat to my system and it would simplify my menus alot to rather than having to search through everything. Is there even a folder I can delete these programs from?

Freak Peek sneak peek leaks, piques curiosity (Engadget)

Aug 26th 2008 9:34PM I don't think its that ugly. Its black square bezel is nice, and its thin aswell. This is just a bad just a bad picture is all. The keyboard is the only thing that looks bad to me, but if its easy to use I wouldn't mind.

Not that i'm going to buy one of these things or anything, i don't need one

The editor-in-chief giveaway: Win Ryan Block's gadgets (Engadget)

Aug 22nd 2008 10:23PM Poor student here, and I cannot afford to buy all that stuff, and would love it.

The Worst Gadgets of All Time 11 (Switched)

Aug 14th 2008 10:49PM I remember windows ME well. Yes it crashed alot, but no more so than Win 98 that came before it. Looking back in hindsight ME introduced many of the features we take for granted today. Plug and play, A decent media player, decent web browsing and automatic updates.

These are to this day probably the most used and appreciated elements of any operating system. Cut ME some slack.
