Technorati vlogging on Netscape! (The Jason Calacanis Weblog)

Oct 7th 2006 6:49AM This was quite possibly the worst video blog I've ever seen.

Somewhere, baby zefrank is crying.

Christ, Technorati. Christ.

Square Enix on the Virtual Console (Joystiq Nintendo)

Oct 6th 2006 4:27PM Man, I've been waiting for Chrono Trigger news on the VC since I heard about the VC. It's probably the most sought after VC game. The game commands $25-$30 for the original cartridge on eBay. No other game manages that.

Also awesome picks: Earthbound. (Not Square, I know, but Christ, so awesome.) And Secret of Evermore.

Wii devkit shared (Joystiq Nintendo)

Oct 2nd 2006 7:31PM The batteries thing has bothered me ever since E3, when I spent a good hour talking to a few Nintendo reps during the "press only" playground time. I've always thought that cramming in wireless, infrared, rumble AND sound... oh, AND motion sensing. AND powering the nunchuk was a long way to go on a few AAs. I've seen amazing things done power-wise, though, and I know these will probably last for a month (hopefully) on normal use, but the ability to plug the damn thing in and charge it, ala anyone else is something that should be considered going forward.

True story, though: A lithium/rechargeable solution would definitely bring the cost of the controller further up, I'm thinking. On the plus side, they have a USB port, the Wiimote has a proprietary jump port itself, so they could add a docking station or a cable or a docking station that plugs into the system itself...

Here's hoping...

Poll: Choose Wii Fanboy's favicon! (Joystiq Nintendo)

Sep 26th 2006 6:28PM Anyone suggesting a head or figure has no idea how small 16x16 favicons are.

Wiimite will work if you can make it look good. Zelda triad might do it, but might be too simple. Black wii-mote?

Wii: it's all about the bling, son (Joystiq Nintendo)

Sep 15th 2006 4:53PM The way I see it, this is ostensibly the most technologically advanced controller to date. Why is it any surprise that the Wiimote, which contains accelerometers and gyroscopes, an infrared-based pointing device, a Bluetooth radio, several LEDs, a speaker, rumble technology and... if I've heard correctly, memory enough to store your player profile, should cost all of $10 more than the Xbox 360 wireless controller (looking at Amazon's prices), Nunchuk *included*!

The reason Nintendo is making money on these things at this point is economies of scale, for the unit and the controllers. The controllers are still costing *something*, though; I'm guessing their margins are slimmer.

A "ridiculous amount of money" would be $100. This is a sting in the shins at worst. And not all games require the nunchuk.

FBI software doesn't exactly work (Download Squad)

Aug 21st 2006 9:58AM 200 million lines in Windows Vista, for what it's worth.

Rescue Me: Devil (season premiere) (AOL TV)

May 31st 2006 9:44AM You know, I found it a bit hard to believe that the girl *really* recovered. I noted the reactions of the mother and the paramedics, and still sorta, kinda think it could've still been just in his head.

But for his sake, I know it wasn't. Hardcore.

And this Devil song is pretty hot. I've always loved FX, and the number of bands they've introduced me to is borderline ridiculous.

Eagerly awaiting Nip/Tuck and The Shield's new seasons... FX is the best TV on TV, period.

Thief: Pilot (AOL TV)

Mar 29th 2006 6:06AM This show didn't leave me shaken and crazed like the series premiere of The Shield, but I'm definitely feeling it. I love FX and haven't been disappointed yet. They only put solid, amazing material on the screen, so I'll watch and see what develops, for sure.

The Shield: Postpartum (AOL TV)

Mar 22nd 2006 3:59AM I can't believe what I just watched.

That was perhaps the most intense dialog I have ever witnessed on tv, and Lem surviving for a precious minute just drove the boot into the throat. That was absolutely incredible and I can't get over it. I just can't.

I didn't think that a tv show could have that sort of effect on someone, but oh my god.

Microsoft advertises its advertising to advertisers (AdJab)

Mar 20th 2006 8:35AM At this point, it's wholly evident that MS needs to spend at least this much to make Vista relevant.

XP is a near-perfect OS for a great deal of people. They need to push people to have a reason to upgrade. They can't say that it "crashes less". XP doesn't really crash. They have to fall back on aesthetics, security, and a few other stability elements, and it's not easy to get someone to spend upwards of $200 to fix something that's not exactly broken.

(Loved the chicken nuggets comment.)
