Rebellion games hit GOG.com, we give them to you (just like that) [update] (Joystiq)

Jul 9th 2009 3:16PM Each of those codes was gone within seconds. Way less than that for the last few ones. :-(

Flipping the Linux switch: Linux gaming (Download Squad)

Apr 23rd 2008 11:56AM You missed a few. And by a few, I mean a lot.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, anyone? That's got native Linux support.

Steam, Guild Wars, EVE Online, and World of Warcraft also run quite well, though you need to use Wine.

There are also many, many free games much better than Tux Racer. WarSow comes to mind, as does Battle for Wesnoth.

AbiWord 2.6 free word processor for Windows and Linux released (Download Squad)

Apr 1st 2008 10:42AM I believe the OS X version is currently being worked on, actually. They just don't have as many developers for that platform as they do for Windows/Linux, so progress is moving a bit slower.

Free MacBook Air -- if I become the number one user on Twitter (The Jason Calacanis Weblog)

Mar 17th 2008 1:31AM A one hour response time isn't really workable for many people.
I've got back-to-back classes, and all things not directly related to participation and/or note taking are frowned upon. I'd imagine that it's also rather rude to twitter in the middle of meetings and such.

Call of Duty 4 beta ending Sept. 30, cap being raised (Joystiq)

Sep 22nd 2007 7:49PM Honestly, that was the first thing I saw too. I then read the article in hopes of seeing a PA mention. Lame.

Jack Thompson responds biblically to Take-Two (Joystiq)

Mar 18th 2007 6:33PM #50, there are a few points in your post I would take issue with.

> "God did not write the scripture..."

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." - 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The phrase "inspired by God" has also been translated "God-breathed". At the very least, I think we can agree that the Bible claims that God was heavily involved in it's creation.

> "It seems to be a habit of fundamentalist christians to rewrite history to attribute all good things to God."

"Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow." - James 1:17

I agree that Jack needs to be put in his place, though. I certainly don't think he is representing Christ (or any sane human) at all.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl revealed for Wii, featuring Solid Snake! [update] (Joystiq)

May 10th 2006 11:12PM NO ONE expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Seriously. This looks pretty neat.
I can understand why they'd go without the motion control. Most of the SSB games I've played have involved sitting in a small area squinting at a small TV with people packed in on both sides. You'd really need a pretty big room to play a 4 or more player motion-controlled SSB game.

Heh. With all the complaints about the Wiimote, it's kinda funny to see people complaining that some games *won't* be using it's gyroscope features. ^_^
