I was one month from enrolling into grad school and needed a notebook computer.
The school required that the computer run Windows XP or Vista for exam purposes and I took a gamble that I would be ok with the new Intel macs so long as I purchased a copy of Windows to run via boot camp.

Leading up to grad school, I had spent an entire year working at a place that was mac only. Initially, I didn't like the macs in the office but later on I fell in love and started searching for reasons to purchase a mac. Intel + grad school notebook requirement = Hello MacBook. I haven't looked back.
