Welcome to Planet Conformity, the dumbing down and Yahoo-ization of a service that was at least recognizable. I suppose it was inevitable... all this time spent making it look like all the other sites, and still not a full set of tag operators, among other things.

Feb 21st 2006 9:00PM What about real innovation? At etech last year I watched a presentation by the Ask Jeeves folks that shared some pretty impressive, clustering based search technologies that were due to hit the public any time. I see the image search has come out (though I and a few others were pretty sure that part of their presentation was rigged), but what about the rest?

Oct 13th 2005 2:35PM Smugness is easy. Don't forget that a LOT of people who are natural targets for these machines live outside the reach of broadband (such as here in Alaska, where people 2 miles from the university are outside the reach of cable or DSL).
