Farewell, Internet (Download Squad)

Apr 12th 2011 2:47PM This is awful.

This site has been my top bookmark for years.
What other site is dedicated to software on such a deep level.

Bad enough TVSquad got ruined after the change now y'all are leaving.

Hopefully some other site will fill this new hole in the internet.

You can now rent Adobe Photoshop for $35 per month, CS 5.5 available soon (Download Squad)

Apr 11th 2011 3:58PM This sounds great. At my job they needed indesign for a short project the bought 2 licenses at about $1,000 with discount and since the project was done it has not been used again.

Granted if it's needed it will be there without any supervisors approval to rent another month. Our company as no deal with Adobe so this new option seems perfect.

Apr 6th 2011 6:22PM Very nice this would be a great way to end Lent. (I gave up sweets and other things for lent)

Thanks for the chance.

Ask DLS: What's your backup process? (Download Squad)

Mar 31st 2011 3:27PM Once every 6 months, if I remember, to a Western Digital hard drive.

Kind of living on the edge since I'm one of those who turned on my PC 6 years ago and except for updates I never turned it off. Never needed to back up so I usually forget.

Corel VideoStudio X4 giveaway (Download Squad)

Feb 22nd 2011 2:38PM Very nice, Corel makes some great editing tools.
Thanks for the chance.

15+ free Windows apps to help you tackle Thanksgiving tech support (Download Squad)

Nov 21st 2010 5:06PM 15 minute rule?

I offer to look at the problem and if it something simple that I know can be done in 15 minutes I will help. If it looks like they need a ton of of help then I politely say call me back on the weekend and quickly do 15 minutes of work /advice that will make sure there system does not get worse.

I want my holidays too, they seem to respect that.

Google Wave dies of acute unpopularity at age 1 (Download Squad)

Aug 4th 2010 6:31PM I got one of those Google Wave accounts early and used it twice but it was too complicated and with nothing new or innovating I never used it again.

I'm also waiting for what the Google Labs come up with hopefully it would be a virtual online desktop that multiple people can access. It would be ideal for college classes or work collaborations.

Image Resizer Powertoy Clone lets you resize image batches with one step (Download Squad)

Jul 26th 2010 3:35PM Finally, this is a great program I used it all the time with XP but in Vista I tried a dozen other and none are as fast and simple as this Powertoy.

A small-time Massachusetts paper is instituting a paywall -- for commenters (Download Squad)

Jul 14th 2010 1:23PM I've had anonymous commenting on my blog for years and I deal with spammers easily, I just delete. My comments are emailed to me and I just hit delete on those that bring up hate or ads or nonsense.

This system seems a bit extreme, I would say just hire some intern to filter the comments according to the papers written policy. You have full control plus you give intern experience to some college kid.
