Aug 2nd 2010 11:53AM My iPad is practically raising my 19 month old son for me. I can't use it because every time he sees it he comes running saying "ipat, ipat, ipat". My loss of the device aside, the educational apps available are great, even the blown up iPhone versions. People are constantly amazed by what he can do. He unlocks it himself, finds the app he wants among 5 different screens and plays the games. He Loves fish school, he loves baa baa black sheep, itsy bitsy spider, and a spelling game I can't remember the name of. I know he's just matching the shapes of the letters but its amazing to see him drag the tiles to the right spot and spell the name of an animal. It does seem like a waste of of 64GB 3G so I may be getting him his own wifi model though.
May 4th 2010 2:48AM Ok, here is the thing. My 3G iPad just arrived and my wife is in love. Not just some pubescent infatuation, no this is "Get up early and sneak off to work with it before I get out of the shower" love.We will be a 2 iPad household one way or another, please TUAW, save me the cash!
Apr 29th 2010 4:03PM If you can't use your international card, just go to a drugstore (Walgreens, CVS, etc.) They have prepaid debit cards which you can purchase. Sometimes called gift cards but they work just like a debit card. You should probably be able to use that.

Mar 30th 2010 1:23PM I don't know about the iPad (64GB + 3G on order) but I read all day long on my laptop for work (A Lenovo T400). I'm writing code, reading design and requirements documents, and reading news and articles online. I've played with the Nook and the Kindle and while I'm sure their e-ink is super easy on the eyes and comparable to books, I really read more on the computer screen than I do from books. I honestly read about 3 books a year. While the nook and kindle are neat I didn't see me using them any more than a traditional book. But I'll use the iPad for MUCH more than just books, and in the end I believe I'll probably end up reading more books on than I do with real books now, just because of the convenience of being able to pull up and read a chapter or two when ever the urge hits me. And even if I don't its so much more useful than those other readers because of the extra functionality.
Feb 9th 2010 9:48AM eSATA would be nice, but I'd venture to say that port is too ugly for steve to let it be on an Apple. Just like they invent MiniDisplayPort, I'd say they'd invent MiniStorage port before the implement eSATA
Feb 3rd 2010 4:54AM @izzy Video Conferencing software. You don't put a front facing camera on something and then not have iChat ready to go. There's hardly any other use for them aside from video conferencing.

Feb 2nd 2010 9:42AM Actually this is probably the iMac Touch. It is first presented as a touch screen iMac then one more thing at the end of the presentation he pulls the screen off and starts walking around with it.
