Feb 14th 2006 11:51AM Awesome, I love the clay interior! It doesn't need cup holders, because I can just push my coffee mug directly into the dashboard. Adobe, the little car that's made out of clay.
CableCARD on Vista to require CableLabs certification (Engadget)
Jan 30th 2006 7:12PM This just means people who want to use uncertified cable cards won't use Media Center. There is and will continue to be third-party options that provide more flexibility.
Based on my own experiences, the vast majority of people who use Media Center to actually record and watch TV built home-brew computers (any computer that didn't come with Media Center). Those same folks arealso huge HD enthusiasts. So, blocking that crew out could be a huge setback for the Media Center team.

Dec 16th 2005 7:24AM Me too--my $3000 (at the time) Gateway EDTV is still in use and looking perfect after 3 years. These class action lawsuits are usually BS. The consumers won't even get anything out of it. Only the lawyers win.
Windows Live Local launches: 45-degree view not especially useful (Download Squad)
Dec 10th 2005 8:06AM I don't think they'll ever be able to stitch the pictures together. These pictures are taken by airplanes, not satellites. Satellites take their pictures from the same point of view, so the perspective in each picture doesn't change. Planes are moving constantly, though. To see the problem, compare the overlapping portions of two different pictures, or try to stitch them together yourself. Anyway, I totally agree that it's cool but not useful for navigation in it's current state. I think the long term plan is NOT to use these images directly, but to build 3-D maps of cities and use the information in the images to color in the sides of buildings. In the meantime, MS is letting us use their millions of dollars in aerial photography as a toy. I got a great aerial shot of my house for free--something that would have cost a lot of money otherwise.
Maxivista, yet another screen sharing app (Download Squad)
Oct 6th 2005 10:30AM I've used Synergy, and it's totally different. You can't drag a window from one monitor to another with Synergy, and you can with Maxivista. Synergy is K(notV)M software. Maxivista adds another monitor. Totally different products.
Maxivista, yet another screen sharing app (Download Squad)
Oct 6th 2005 9:07AM "Yet another screen sharing app"--what other app does what Maxivista does? I use Maxivista, but it's not perfect, so I'd love to check out an alternative. I'm not aware of any, though. Maxivista is NOT remote control software, it lets other computers act as a second (or third or forth) monitor by sending video driver commands across the network.
