Download Squad's Invite-a-palooza: Day 2 (Download Squad)

Windows 7 due out in 2010. (Download Squad)

Jul 21st 2007 10:46AM Microsoft is right on this one (they should!). Windows 95 through ME are Windows 4.x (NT3 and NT4 being parallel, special flavours of Windows 3 and Windows 4). Windows 2000 (NT5), XP, 2003 are Windows 5's (NT being merged with the regular Win-over-DOS versions). Vista is Windows 6.0.

Confusing? Yes. But try opening the Comand Prompt and typing the command 'ver'.

Useless software - Freaky Friday Find (Download Squad)

Feb 11th 2006 9:16AM You have no idea how funny it is to find someone linking this. I'm the author of those apps, which I did during the coffee breaks of a Visual Basic class I took six or seven years ago. The apps don't even run in my own computer anymore, and since the time I took that course I went to get a degree in Film Studies so programming is definitely not on top of my list of hobbies, save for the basic PHP I dive into every few months to keep my sites running.

Online Tutorial for Cinelarra (DV Guru)

Oct 5th 2005 10:15PM To me it looks more like a poorly written tutorial by someone who may know a lot about Linux but little about video. To the point, the example you give is about using an external command line utility to get the characteristics of a movie file so you can set your project accordingly (think of using FourCCinfo or something before setting up a project in Adobe Premiere), which immediately marks this tutorial as amateur. If you are into half-serious editing, you really already know the characteristics of the video you're working on, don't you? Anyway, my advice is: stay clear of Linux for video - it's made by engineers for engineers - unless you are looking for a cheap way to load up a room full of computers with a versatile editing app, in which case lots of customization will be in order until you get a no-frills workflow.
