Sep 30th 2005 1:28PM Hmm, you're right. They have disabled the link. Maybe they're coming out with a new version (or we overwhelmed their servers, heh, heh). It's still available via most of the big download sites, so take your pick and search, and you should be able to find it.

Sep 5th 2005 10:03PM Thanks, Brian. The link's been fixed.
Firefox 1.5 to go beta next week (Download Squad)
Sep 2nd 2005 10:11PM Yes, it's pretty easy to install multiple versions of Firefox (unlike som other browsers). Don't use the Windows installer; download the zip file instead, and just manually save it to another directory. (I believe the Deer Park installer doesn't overwrite your Firefox directory, but I don't know if the beta installer will, so doing it manually is the safest way.)

Sep 1st 2005 4:49PM Thanks for the Mac tip, ADM. For reference, here's the Macosxhints link. http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050508000838365&query=menu+clock

Sep 1st 2005 4:45PM Yes, I know about setting the taskbar to double-height. But I prefer to keep it as small as possible; I like to reserve most of my screen real estate for apps! And, unfortunately, Microsoft doesn't make it easy to add the date and other info in single-height mode.

Jul 25th 2005 1:02PM Even if that's the case, there's plenty of prior art. Right now, I'm using Fire on the Mac, which allows you to create your own "Smiley Themes." This just doesn't seem that unique.

Jul 23rd 2005 8:20PM Good point. Shiira is open source. Unfortunately, Penner hasn't, er, penned a Shiira updater yet. Maybe that's his next project!

Jul 22nd 2005 3:31PM I've got to agree that, when it comes to Outlook, Project and Visio, there are no real substitutes. Sure, you can replace Word, Excel and (to some extent) PowerPoint with OpenOffice.org, but you're stuck when it comes to the others. And, if you're on a Mac, you're in even worse shape, since Microsoft doesn't even make Mac versions of Project or Visio. Hey, open source developers: get with the program. We want a solid open source project management app now!
Browser tip of the day: Firefox by the numbers (Download Squad)
Jul 22nd 2005 2:05PM Strange. I've been able to get it to work. It's possible that it breaks with newer builds. Anybody have trouble with this on recent Firefox builds?
