With Ubuntu's shift to Qt in 11.10, an attack on the mobile sector must be imminent (Download Squad)

GTK and QT work together, they are just toolkit librarys. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to run KDE apps in gnome. The whole Ubuntu on tablet thing has always been the case for natty, it's no secret. Sorry but article is of poor understanding and quality.

Aug 5th 2010 10:43AM We British do understand the free market system, we just know it doesn't work very well. Capitalism is a great thing, as long as it is in service of society and one thing Europe and Britain has to be proud of is our society.

A strongly regulated market, may not be as dynamic or provide growth as fast but it avoids the more undesirable effects of things like financial crashes or giant oil spills.

The individual should always be greater than the company.

Jun 5th 2010 11:03AM @Marko not its more than likely running natively via wine. I doubt morestown can emulate x86 environment (virtualise?), or at least at a useful speed.

WOW is probably the best supported game on wine.

Ubuntu 10.04 'Lucid Lynx' arrives on the scene (Engadget)

i do exactly the same. compiling on Linux is a dream because of the dependency handling. I would hate to do my research using only windows.

In Ubuntu there are meta packages for handling, eg just download the wine-dep from synaptics and then you can build wine no problems.

They are cousins. Mac uses the dawin kernel a spin off of bsd.

Ubuntu is linux which is in every google server, in fact in most servers. its in all android phones, you most likely used Linux dozens of times a day without even realizing it.

If you burn it to CD and leave it in and reboot you can try Ubuntu without even installing it. It will entirely run from the cd and unless you decide wont touch you hard drive (mind you this obviously is alot slower, but at least you can play).

just use Ubuntu :-) , the other versions (kubuntu etc) are just community respins. e.g peoples own preferences based on Ubuntu.

Ubuntu finally gets new logo and looks in 10.04 (Download Squad)

Mar 5th 2010 7:13AM Your preferences will not be default for the next release.

Additionally these screen shots are out of date and they are of an alpha quality release, which was only announced because of interface freeze.

Wait till at least the RC before you decide that there are no "improvements"
