Mar 23rd 2011 7:59PM Third party video support was added in the iOS 4.3 API and a few apps are already taking advantage of it. Air Video was recently updated to support both video and audio AirPlay streaming.
More iPhone clock problems reported (TUAW.com)
Mar 14th 2011 7:12PM I had an issue with the alarm time changing every time I fast app switched to and from Night Stand HD on the iPad 2 on Saturday and couldn't replicate it this morning.
It doesn't sound like it possibly be related to a DST problem in the OS, but the timing was curious. Maybe there was a DST bug in the app itself.
devsugar: Understanding iPhone 4 backgrounding (TUAW.com)
Jul 6th 2010 5:27PM The whole idea is that if you properly store your state to persist between terminations when your app is suspended, it can safely be killed without an additional chance given to you with another method call. Since your app was already suspended prior, there were no changes in your data to save, and you're not forcing the phone to expend more resources at a point when it was running low in the first place (since that's why the app is being fully terminated).

iPhone 101: Quitting apps in iOS 4 (TUAW.com)
Jun 30th 2010 10:16PM I was thinking the exact same thing when I read the article's opener. I almost assumed that Erica was simply smarter than me (no doubt that's the case) and hinting at some bug-level problem in 4.0 that legacy apps might exhibit, since all the developer docs I've seen say a 3.x app terminates when you hit the home button in 4.0, just like it did in 3.x (i.e. with one last delegate call and the ability to handle a few seconds of cleanup, but nowhere near 4.0's task completion).
Since state restoration was left fully up to the app anyway in 3.0 and apps that haven't been updated to 4.0 don't even get the benefit of fast app switching's automatic 'freeze drying' when they're suspended, what would these problems be that Eric eludes to?
iPhone 101: Quitting apps in iOS 4 (TUAW.com)
Jun 30th 2010 10:10PM In most cases, the app isn't 'running in the background. It's suspended to the point where it doesn't require CPU cycles and doesn't use any additional battery power.
It's hard to miss when apps are still running. They'll play audio, handle location updates or let you do VOIP calls.
