May 14th 2008 5:51PM Someone needs to explain an apparent discrepancy in all these iPhone rumors. If a new iPhone is coming out and is equipped with 3G then where is the FCC approval application? A 3G iPhone would have to go through the FCC approval process which necessarily leaves a public paper trail. As far as I am concerned no FCC paperwork means no 3G iPhone. Until that shows up the most we can expect are updates to aspects of the iPhone that are not covered by the FCC.

Mar 25th 2007 4:47PM All this speculation about an early or late release is boring and pointless. Leopard will be released in June at WWDC. A release before WWDC would be pointless and turn WWDC into a side show. A release after WWDC would a complete disaster. WWDC would be reduced to an open bar.

The biggest problem I have with every social networking app is that I have to go to it. The network doesn't come to me. MySpace, SL, LinkedIn,etc.., all want me to sit at my computer and login and "get social". Focusing on my computer is NOT social. I have a life away from my laptop but I am still connected. Social networking needs to expand to cellphones at the very least. It needs to connect me to real people in real space. Imagine a location-aware social network.

Mar 16th 2007 4:45PM A Spring ship date just doesn't make any sense. What are people going to go WOW over at WWDC? The iPhone is locked against developers so is Apple TV and the Airport Extreme. Plus, a Spring release would completely screw over Adobe. The 10.5 kernel is substantially different than 10.4.x which means that vendors like Adobe that are concerned about performance will have to recompile their apps. Pro's aren't buying new macs because Adobe hasn't shipped CS3. It's so important that Apple cited the delay as a material event at their last analyst conference.

Can you really see a situation where Adobe finally announces a revamped and completely native suite only to have Apple slap them down a few weeks later? Nah. Watch Adobe's March 27th announcement. I bet Adobe and Apple will coordinate their releases.

Feb 27th 2007 5:36PM Oh my golly gosh it's fast! The beta's were always pretty peppy but this final build is amazing. Everything seems to take a most half the time. It normally takes my c2duo macbook pro about 30 seconds to fully restore a suspended XP session. It now takes less than 3 seconds. Really.

Feb 20th 2007 5:37PM Yojimbo is a nice idea terribly executed. The great tagging ability of Yojimbo must be balanced against the fact that it stores everything in a database. I'm not talking about the tag metadata. I'm talking about all the files. Yojimbo is a proprietary file system with a search interface. Once a file is added to Yojimbo it is only available through Yojimbo. That's not really effective for most people.
