Feb 10th 2009 10:13AM The record company Paul alludes to is not Apple Corp -- it's EMI, which owns Apple Corp and Capitol Records. Apple Corp consists of Ringo, Paul and the widows, plus admins. Apple Corp and EMI do not get along...that's why Paul left EMI and joined Starbucks.

Fan Rant: Charlie Chaplin's Talkies Deserve More Respect (Cinematical)

Jun 18th 2008 9:15PM Excellent essay, and I could not agree more. I think Chaplin's talkies were way ahead of their time and I'm so glad Verdoux is getting attention lately with the new print. Today as younger people (including me, 30) reach back to Chaplin's work, I think we naturally gravitate to the talkies because they are easier for us. If you look around at forums, reviews and IMDB, you'll see almost all of the positive accounts are from people under, say, 50. Many are teenagers. People older than that have a bias toward Chaplin, and can't stand that he evolved the way he did. We don't have that bias.

I hope A King in New York is next on the Chaplin revitalization circuit. I think it's just as good as Verdoux.

I must correct you though. Chaplin did not work with Agee on the post-atomic bomb script. Agee worked on it alone and although they became friends, Chaplin was not interested in making the film, mostly because he was too old to play the Tramp. See John Wranovics's "Tramp and Agee".

Aug 27th 2007 1:00PM I've been sending text messages to phone numbers for a long time with Gmail.

I'd maybe use Yahoo mail to IM if it didn't have a memory link or crash Firefox fairly consistently.

Yahoo - I love ya, but you gotta fix what's there before adding features.
