Jun 15th 2010 1:51PM So why is it we assume these people had no mental problems to begin with? Out of 400,000 people these are the only ones that managed to feel bad enough to go through with it? Or was it a the total package, low wages, (I've been there - $1.70/hr as a teen working for a theater, limited hours and no perks except all the popcorn you could choke down and yes perfectly legal in the United States at the time)
Long hours, My first few engineering jobs I was working 12 hour days 6 days a week with little to no sleep in between. I've also worked a 12 hour day 7 days a week as an itinerant farm worker in my late teens and I was one of the lucky ones I got payed an extra .25 per hour as a farm equipment operator. And no these don't quite compare to the wage differences there but at one time nearly everywhere these conditions prevailed. Hell the US had sweatshops staffed by children who frequently just dropped dead of exhaustion. Buildings with emergency exits locked to prevent pilferage causing ~100 women to die horrible deaths in one fire incident.

Don't act so self righteous just because we managed to get the government interested in our protection we took quite a while to get there and our captains of industry still complain!

Jun 1st 2010 2:35PM @cmoswizard Wow, listen to Mr. Self Righteous Asshole. Yeah we all use the stuff, and the dollar value of the lost property is large (not large enough to erase 5+ years of tremendously ridiculous profits on our backs) and the loss of life is regrettable but they were the ones that took advantage of bribable government employees to bypass safety inspections. Don't try to put this back on us.

May 27th 2010 6:43PM As a developer, what version/UI should I target? Forget the consumer, I can't keep up with the changes and special versions and I'm a geek. All I want to do is write and release.

Oddly enough an apartment here costs 38 times what you pay in India so we can't afford living space for our minimum wage either. Food costs less than we pay also, and um well if you aren't being paid enough then unionize like we did and one day you too can be paying 38 times what something is worth for the privilege of living in it.

Citation needed. Last time I looked to develop a full application you needed to use Adobe products.
