Dear Aunt TUAW: How do I get started programming for the iPhone? (TUAW.com)
Sep 25th 2008 8:20PM ... "Yeah, there's a "good" chance you'll get rejected...if by "good" you mean about 1/1500"...
Well, explain that to the rejected developers. They spent a lot of time developing an application for the iPhone. Months and months, only to be told that all there time was wasted. The Apple iPhone development environment is too restricted.

Sep 25th 2008 8:00PM I'm sure the developer of Podcaster enjoyed spending months writing code in the wonderful iPhone environment - only to be to told at the end of it to go to hell.

Sep 25th 2008 7:49PM Mikey,
There is a good chance that Apple will reject any application you develop. You will spend months developing an application only to be rejected. Also the non-disclosure agreement will mean that after you are rejected you will not be able to tell anyone. I recommend you try to develop an application for Googles's Android - it is open source and you are guaranteed to not be rejected.
Scribblet: menubar scratchpad (TUAW.com)
Jul 3rd 2008 12:54PM If you use the Dashboard you might want to look at SecretNotePadPlus. I use it to take littles notes when I'm on the phone, etc. It's also tied to KeyChain Access so you secure any notes if necessary.
See http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/business/secretnotepadplus.html
Warp: change Spaces with your mouse (TUAW.com)
Dec 22nd 2007 10:42AM True, you can drag an application to the edge of the screen and spaces will switch automatically. But with Warp you don't have to drag an app- just go to the edge and Spaces will switch. I don't think this functionality is already built into Leopard. At least I can't find it. Is there a way without Warp?
Apple: Nine ringtones is too much (TUAW.com)
Oct 9th 2007 12:40PM I agree that all this anti-Apple stuff is getting out of hand. I suggest TUAW set up an in-House Un-Apple Activities Committee (iHUAC). They could begin by questioning Sadun and Schramm on their prior activities. For example have they ever been members of a Microsoft fan site? Wll they provide names of other members of those Microsoft sites?
We must get to the bottom of this.
No more NBC shows on iTunes (Download Squad)
Aug 31st 2007 6:21PM I agree with Buck Jones. To say that Apple is fighting to keep prices uniform and fair is not true. They will charge whatever they think they can get away with. Here in the UK iTunes songs are 50% more than songs in the US and they just opened the iTunes video store- with videos costing 100% (double) what they cost in the US. I hope that more companies start selling music and videos so that we won't be stuck with one company (Apple) having monopoly on the market.
Back up your Firefox settings with MozBackup (Download Squad)
Aug 27th 2007 7:00PM Quite nice but it seems to for Windows only. If I'm not mistaken all your firefox data is located in your profile directory. You can simply copy the whole profile directory to another machine to back it up. Or as I have done copied the profile directory from a Mac machine to a PC machine- making firefox on the PC run with everything installed as on the Mac machine. See http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/profile for more information.
Forbes considers buying Clipmarks (Download Squad)
Aug 8th 2007 6:04PM Might be a good thing. I use Clipmarks but it seems pretty damn slow. Maybe Forbes could invest more money and speed them up!
Create a virtual library with Shelfari (Download Squad)
Jul 27th 2007 8:50AM I've tried Shelfari but not all the books I imported are recognized. It seems they only use Amazon.com to look up their books. I have found LibraryThing (www.librarything.com) to be more comprehensive.
