Statistics Show That Romantic Comedies Ruin Relationships (Cinematical)

Jul 22nd 2010 9:05PM This study and theory seems on par with those that claim video games make kids violent or Harry Potter makes kids dabble in witchcraft.

I love romantic comedies, some of them anyway, and some of my favorites are also favorites of my husband. Additionally both of my parents like romantic comedies and they've been married for almost 30 years. Sure, real relationships take more time than it takes to watch a romantic comedy, but you can have a happy ending if you put that time in. Maybe not exactly like the movies, but sometimes it's even better.

I'll refrain from referring to myself as a "hottie" but I did used to model and I married a game developer. And he often knows what I'm thinking.

But seriously, people abandon old-fashoined values and then wonder where the real life romance has gone.

Kid Gets Detention for Repeating Joke From 'The Office' (AOL TV)

Feb 25th 2010 7:24PM And saying "But I was just quoting the office!" didn't get the kid out of trouble.

I agree that it's not appropriate for school though.

Where's the iMag store? (TUAW.com)

Feb 2nd 2010 3:34AM This is one of the first things I thought of after the announcement. I hope that either magazines will put out their own apps, or will be in the iBooks store. I would love to subscribe to and read magazines on an iPad and it would allow me to keep back issues without having stacks of magazines everywhere.

Shelf Life: Last Action Hero (Cinematical)

Jan 29th 2010 3:16AM I loved this movie too. It's somewhat nostalgic for me, my dad took me to the theater to see it, I guess I was 10. It's cheesy, funny, and fun.

I love when the kid says "Where are all the ordinary women? They don't exist because this is a movie." and the response is "No, this is California."

I'm a girl, if that fact is of note.

I liked it as a kid and I can still watch and enjoy it.

George Lucas is Prepping a CGI Musical About Fairies?! (Cinematical)

Jan 27th 2010 7:11PM I love musicals and fairies. There's always the possibility that they'll do something heinous to it, but as long as it's a decent movie, I don't really see a downside.

Weird Wednesday - Virtual Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (Download Squad)

Oct 14th 2009 6:19PM I was just going to say that last I checked, Mr Toad's Wild Ride is still there at Disneyland. Didn't realize it was gone from Disney World!

I was scared of this ride as a kid. Consider that it does take you to hell at the end.

'Sweeney Todd' Update: Johnny Depp Finally Sings! (Cinematical)

Nov 21st 2007 8:24PM Acceptable. I was concerned at the first trailer. While it looked amazing visually, and I'm confident in Depp's ability to play Sweeney, the little bit he sang was not quite cutting it. This is better. I'm now most concerned about Carter in a singing role made famous by Angela Lansbury.

This is one of my favorite musicals, so I'm hoping it will come out well.

Isla Fisher to Become a 'Shopaholic' (Cinematical)

Aug 22nd 2007 3:01PM The Secret Dream World of a Shopaholic is the book's british title.

And why would they move it to New York rather than keeping it in London? She goes to New York in the second book.

Comic-Con: First Look at Johnny Depp's 'Sweeney Todd' Poster (Cinematical)

Jul 30th 2007 7:59PM I love this musical, and while I have no doubt that Johnny Depp will act the part well, I am still a bit concerned about the music. I hope the cast will perform it to it's justice!

OLPC gets a name: the CM1, or Children's Machine (Engadget)

Aug 25th 2006 2:31PM I really liked the idea of selling them commercially for twice the price so that you could buy one for your kid and it would also buy one for some third world kid.
