When you send an email via your IMAP client (Apple Mail, Thunderbird, ...), it will show up in Gmail as a sent message --> awesome

- but -

When you send an email via Gmail, it will never get forwarded to your IMAP account, thus you will never be able to search for it in Apple Mail (Thunderbird, ...) --> lame
