Mar 12th 2010 10:50AM I'd need to know the connectivity options. But at the price, I'd buy a few to through in the back seat of the family truckster.

TiVo Premiere and Premiere XL usher in a brand new interface, optional QWERTY remote (Engadget)

'measly $14 per month per account' equals $168 per year per account
XBox Live Gold costs $50 a year

TiVo's surely not pushing as many bits on guide info as Live is for gaming... Furthermore, I doubt this TiVo is as robust a piece of hardware as the PS3.

TiVo seems to be trying to make a tidy profit on both hardware and service, and that's unfortunate. I hate my set-top box; and would be happy to pay someone to replace it. But the 300 to 700 dollar cost for something that's just better than what I have is too steep.

Dec 14th 2009 10:25AM most exciting thing to me is the active wallpaper. I imagine visualizations like the Digg Stack running directly on the desktop. Can't wait to see that API.

LOL.

Really... Grant, I agree with you, for the most part, on all your points (especially Upgrade All and Comment Moderation).

On the moderation / app approval tip, I believe a "wisdom of the crowds" approach would be an effective solution. If users were allowed to flag comments or apps as inappropriate... then those votes were employed to usher offending content away (in the case of comments) or to an "out-of-the-public" area (in the case of apps). This would allow the market to stay open.

The market app could have preferences to allow users the ability to set their filter threshold.

An aside: I don't know what Google did in 1.6, but I haven't had a hang or force close since upgrade. battery life has also increased dramatically.

Mobile news reader AvantGo shutting down (Download Squad)

Jun 5th 2009 12:42PM Me too. AvantGo was my most used Palm app. But when I moved away for Palm, the WinMo AvantGo app left a lot to be desired.

A lesson to the kiddies out there... innovate or die.

Google relaunches GrandCentral as Google Voice (Download Squad)

Mar 12th 2009 1:25PM Is it a coincidence that this announcement comes on the heals of Google's patent settlement with Klausner?

As a GrandCentral and Android user, I'm extremely excited about the possibilities.

How would you change the T-Mobile G1? (Engadget)

Dec 19th 2008 11:07PM I'm quite happy with my G1. I agree with others about battery life, and a stronger CPU, but I suppose those things are a given in the next generation of the device.

There are a couple minor issues I'd like fixed software-wise though.

Pressing the hang-up key during a call not only ends the call but locks the screen.
There's no way to control the storage location for application data. I'd move most to the SD card, leaving greater room for applications.
I think the "app drawer" button is too big and the notification bar is too small. My preference.
Greater application integration. When adding a location to a new event, I'd like suggestions of locations from my contacts, maps, or any application that collects location information.
