Oct 23rd 2006 9:02PM There is also this generator to create the slideshow you need. Just add the various details and it will give you the code.

Newsvine testing and interview (Download Squad)

Apr 6th 2006 2:46AM I have been using Newsvine for a little while now, and I love it.

I wrote a kind of review/article about it on my blog, for anyone who's interested.

Deskloops, a New Windowing Metaphor - Today's Mod (Download Squad)

Oct 27th 2005 11:07PM There are a few bugs, like the VLC one mentioned above, but overall I like it. I'm going to give it a couple of days to see if I can get used to it.

WebMailCompose: Handle mailto: links with webmail - Today's Browser Tip (Download Squad)

Oct 19th 2005 3:19AM The official Gmail Notifier (the one from Google for your taskbar, not the Firefox extension) has a setting to "use Gmail for internet mailto: links" and it works perfectly. I only use Firefox, so I can't verify it in any other browser, but it should theoretically work in all browsers.

Ask Download Squad: What media player(s) do you use? (Download Squad)

Oct 17th 2005 8:13PM I have used all of the major media players/organisers (WinAmp, iTunes, Windows Media Player, Media Player Classic, VLC, Real, DivX, QuickTime, etc...) and I find iTunes is the best for general music management and playback (especially with my iPod). No other player comes close in terms of the balance between simplicity and functionality (in my opinion - I don't want to start an argument). For video VLC does just about everything I need, DVDs included.

Sun and Google team up to - yawn - support Java (Download Squad)

Oct 4th 2005 8:25PM I have no idea how credible this is, and it is very vague about details, but this story (link below) seems to suggest that a Google branded OO.o was, in fact, announced. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000103&sid=ag8iQgUKarXM&refer=us

Ask Download Squad: How do you deal with spyware? (Download Squad)

Sep 17th 2005 10:31PM I am using XP Home and use Adaware SE, Spybot, Microsoft Anti-Spyware and VET Antivirus. I am also behind a hardware firewall and only ever use Firefox. Perhaps it's overkill, but I haven't ever had a major virus or encountered more than a few small Spyware/Adware problems. I am happy running a scan every couple of weeks if it means that I can have a safe computer.

Judge rules against Aussie Linux trademark (Download Squad)

Sep 16th 2005 7:28PM Whilst I do not know too much about this story (nor do I particularly care), I would like to point out that it is spelt "Aussie", not "Ozzie". We are a country, not an aging rock star.
