Amazon Apologizes For Its 'Big Brother' Move on Kindle (Switched)

Jul 25th 2009 7:59AM I imagine most thought naively that the purpose of the system was to allow amazon to price-gouge them due to lack of competing e-book-for-kindle suppliers.

Lawsuits over employees' unpaid computer boot-times stacking up next to unread paperwork (Engadget)

[Non-wage-]Slaves had it good. Free board; no travelling required. 'Freedom' is a step backwards in my opinion.

Lawsuits over employees' unpaid computer boot-times stacking up next to unread paperwork (Engadget)

Nov 21st 2008 6:57AM If I worked at a company like that (yes, I'm at work and posting during a build) and didn't want to leave I'd probably exert considerable effort to ensure that I wasted the same amount of time stolen from me by my oppressive employer but even that wouldn't work for me. If I'm at your place of business, I'm there because you want me there not for my own amusement. If you want me there, pay me. Simple as that. Assholes.

Don't these companies realise that treating people like cattle isn't that much of a motivator?

Nov 28th 2007 7:07PM > "It's not because of the spoof announcements. It's because she has criticised the Underground system."

If criticism is discouraged to this extent, there's no feedback about actual problems which means that unless the underground was perfect when created, chances are it's now in dire need of criticism.

You know there's a problem when criticism is discouraged :D

Of course, they have the advantage of having large reserves of your cash sat in their pockets, ready to use against you in frivolous law-suits.

People with limited access to cash have limited access to 'justice'. Hence, a single company can bully the people of the world.

AP sues online news aggregator for scraping content (Download Squad)

Oct 12th 2007 4:40AM "My news, get your own!" lol.

Oh please. Didn't Mummy and Daddy teach you to share ? I'm so tired of these gigantic corporations behaving like spoilt children.

How can they claim news is IP ? Isn't that like me taking a photo of someone in the street and then claiming I 'created the work' ?
