Tesla Roadster on sale in Canada as of... today, deliveries start in Q4 '09 (Autoblog)

Mar 3rd 2009 8:35PM Um, does it have a heater? And if so, how? And how-much does it reduce the distance you can get on a charge?

MINI E: An American sellout? (Autoblog)

Jan 6th 2009 12:29PM Good to see electric cars being tested in a northern climate, where you'd need to run the heater as well. I wonder what the max distance would be after heating up the interior of the car, with the batteries already at -5. Half? Even less?

Leaked: Official updated Mazda MX-5 image (Autoblog)

Sep 3rd 2008 4:15PM I'll have to do some research into driving an MX-5 through a southern Ontario winter (with snow tires). I guess ground clearance is the biggest issue, but surely it must be no lower than a Porsche 911? Is it a crazy idea to consider one as a 2nd car, all year 'round?

It was bound to happen: K Car Club springs up (Autoblog)

Jun 18th 2008 12:05PM Nice! We had an original baby blue station wagon. Standard, with a bench seat, so a crazy L shaped shifter. This was early enough on that the back windows didn't go down at all, just a little vent to open ( to reduce cost? to make the back seats more spacious? to REALLY irritate kids? ) Good times.

Hinting a Geneva Preview? VW launches Scirocco minisite (Autoblog)

Feb 25th 2008 12:42PM I'm getting old! As much as I like the eye-candy of new cars, I'm sitting here waiting for the VW dealership to call back with a price to fix our 2000 Jetta that dropped a window this weekend--I realize I'm in good company here, that they even had to extend the warranty for this because it was happening so much. I want to pay a fair price for a car that I can rely on.

How about VW/Audi stop developing new car designs, and instead spends a year or two working out their existing production problems. Quite frankly I'm not considering a new Audi A3 now, based on my VW problems. For a while there I considered paying more for the Audi, but I've fallen for the "isn't the interior great?" once already. I'll buy the Impreza instead and spend the difference on our house interior, thanks.

(Wow, I do sound bitter, don't I?)

Possible Saab 9-1X sketch? (Autoblog Green)

Dec 24th 2007 11:40AM And of course no door handles. My favourite, though are the rear view mirrors narrow enough to slice errant bike riders in half.

Newspaper says 1,400 deaths blamed on bad airbags (Autoblog)

Oct 22nd 2007 12:25PM I call "inaccurate sensationalistic Autoblog headline" here...

The article says "About 300 people have died from improper airbag deployments since 1990", and that "at least 1,400 drivers and front-seat passengers died ...involving vehicles whose airbags...never deployed" but not that the bad airbags were responsible for the deaths (someone in the article claimed that 1/2 of those people weren't even wearing seatbelts). Big difference to me!

Frankfurt 2007: Honda Accord Tourer previews Accord Wagon (Autoblog)

Sep 11th 2007 12:26PM Nice, hopefully it will be available in Canada (even if it isn't available in the U.S.), with AWD. I'm happy with my Legacy wagon, but I'd like more choice in a few years when it is time to replace it. I'd certainly consider a Honda (or if I save my pennies, the Acura version). No v6 or v8 for me, though, a basic 4 cylinder will do.

Smart-er parking enforcement in Toronto (Autoblog)

Jun 20th 2007 11:01PM Grrrrr They don't need to find anywhere to 'park', they seem to LOVE parking illegally - usually in the bike lane it seems. They should change their motto to "Do as I say, not as I do." (Wow, I sound bitter!)

Audi tees off Toronto residents with botched TT ads (Autoblog)

May 19th 2007 11:40PM I was irritated enough by these ads to take these pictures, call the City to make sure they had them removed, and to e-mail the groups listed above to try and get some traction on the issue (getting all the way to Boing Boing was great! http://www.boingboing.net/2007/05/19/audi_defrauds_toront.html )

I agree with Matt above; what pisses me off the most is that Audi and their PR firm thought they could get away with this. But I disagree when he says "The people who they are pissing off are not the type who would probably go and buy the TT." I think the last thing upscale brands should do is underestimate the standards of their customers, or think that anyone who would buy a $60,000 CDN car with poor gas mileage wouldn't still want to have their city, and their green space treated with respect.
