Access Your Vonage Voice Mail Messages through your Networked TiVo (PVR Wire)
Oct 21st 2006 11:14AM great idea. but, like many brilliant tivo apps, it's broken and nobody has worked on it in ages.

Live from the Steve Jobs Keynote -- "Fun new products" (Engadget)
Feb 28th 2006 12:31PM yes! finally, apple will release an ipod where the big greasy fingerprints on the screen are intentional, rather than unintentional!
Is TiVo dying? (PVR Wire)
Feb 22nd 2006 10:35AM i don't think tivo is dying. i think apple has created an environment where anyone not realeasing a "hot new product" ever 15 minutes looks like a failure. I constantly hear about Tivo's loyal users and never read anything about people leaving the service in droves. After a period of relative inactivity, they've been fairly innovative lately, although rather quiet about it.
And most importantly, these "once favorite tech company is dying" articles are usually written about companies with no revenue stream. Every single Tivo users writes them a check every month. Tivo isn't in GREAT condition, but they have a business plan and loyal users, which should give them enough time to stay in the game.
And to bring it back to Apple...a very small percentage of computer users own their product, but look how good they're doing.

Dvorak says Apple to ditch OS X for Windows (Download Squad)
Feb 16th 2006 4:26PM what he says makes perfect sense. it is well reasoned. the problem is that steve jobs doesn't give a rats ass about beating ms or gaining market share.
he likes the boutqiue computer business and makes insane profits.
for anyone else, this would be 100% correct and dvorak shouldn't be faulted for writing about it.
ACDSee goes pro (Download Squad)
Oct 18th 2005 4:33PM is today such a slow day that it necessitates this post? a more expensive version of a feature-creepy, bloated pile of app is coming our way someday? acdsee doesn't need to go pro, it needs to go away.
Google launches Google Reader web-based RSS reader (Download Squad)
Oct 7th 2005 2:36PM they'll integrate it with gmail later. it's too beta to stick in their yet, and they have to worry about 50 year olds who are just getting used to their new gmail accounts and who's minds might explode if there's suddenly a feed reader in there, too. it'll be like what happened with google maps and google local the other day. _ glitch p-udding worship the glitch
Update: TiVo DRM scare (PVR Wire)
Sep 15th 2005 12:25PM if this becomes an issue, i'll drop tivo in an instant. i'm a big tivo fan, too. but tivo is dead wrong if the they think people are going to pay for a service that restricts, rather than enhances, their viewing freedom.
