How to make, borrow, or lose money with P2P lending (Download Squad)

Feb 13th 2008 12:03PM A new p2p lending site just opened up in Canada (and by 'just', I mean...yesterday ;) ) http://www.ioucentral.ca/

Another has been in the works for some time now.

Facebook unveils Marketplace classified ads section (Download Squad)

May 14th 2007 4:02PM It works, too...I posted an ad for a CRT monitor I had kicking around, sold it less than an hour later. Nice! Unfortunately, there's no way to mark it as 'sold', so you have to delete it, giving you no way of keeping track. Too bad.

Meizu CEO: we only kind of knocked off the iPhone (Engadget)

Feb 14th 2007 1:50PM I don't get it. First, LG comes out with a prototype phone(the KE850). Then the iPhone hits, people notice it looks like the LG, and we're told, "It's just the natural progression of the cellphone". Now, any phone that looks similar to either is slammed as being an iPhone-knockoff? What happen to this design being inevitable?
Mac people make as much sense as tits on a bull.

Don't make me wait: Web 2.0 sin #8 (Download Squad)

Jan 29th 2007 3:45PM So very true. I needed to find DJ software for a wedding this past weekend. One of the demos required registration and confirmation before the download link would appear. By the time the confirmation e-mail came, I'd already found and purchased a different piece of software. Though I did run into another problem:
Rule #9: If you're going to charge for your app, make damn sure your store actually WORKS.

Microsoft extends support period for Windows XP (Download Squad)

Jan 25th 2007 5:38PM Quick note: the extension applies only to XP Home and MCE...because Pro already had it.

For a minute there, ya had me worried...

Rogers set to carry the iPhone in Canada? (Engadget)

Jan 23rd 2007 11:27AM Here's hoping Apple's mandated 'user experience' causes Rogers to reduce the cost of their data plans. Though I do enjoy seeing my co-worker's jaws drop when I tell them how much it will cost them to use the damn thing.

Project Grizzly inventor crafts real-world Halo suit for military use (Engadget)

Jan 15th 2007 9:39AM Here's a video interview with the inventor. He's...energetic, to say the least.

Not sure why the article doesn't link to it, seeing as it's also from the Hamilton Spectator.

Man builds 60-foot tower to nab some wireless broadband (Engadget)

Mar 3rd 2006 1:53PM $404 CDN total. That's incredibly cheap. I've got a co-worker here that was looking at doing the same thing. The quote?

$4000.

Plus, he had to run power and wiring himself to the tower location (which had to be ~ 100' from his house to avoid a treestand).

He went with Ka-band satellite instead.
