Hole in One in Wii Sports: Golf (Joystiq Nintendo)

Jan 16th 2007 5:36PM I've got a hole in one on that very same course :)

Needless to say I screamed my flat down and woke my friends up :P

Wii releases for the week of January 15th (Joystiq Nintendo)

Jan 16th 2007 4:20AM Got Warioware on Sunday - so far it's been the most stupid, ridiculous, awesome fun.

I love the crispness of the cartoon graphics, the intensity as the stages get faster, the preposterous aims behind each microgame. And the characters! If you're a cat lover, wait for Jimmy T's stage. Or is that Jimmy P? Hard to remember right now.

Awesome game. And it was also £35 on release day (other decent games are all £40.) Hopefully that'll signal a bit of a price drop since so far we've been paying the equivalent of 78USD. So whoever was moaning about £50 for this game, count yourself lucky! :D

OLPC to be sold to the public? (Download Squad)

Jan 13th 2007 12:29PM Awesome idea. Not least because I want a laptop but am not willing to pay the extortionate prices of todays market.

It's also an excellent way to force people who wouldn't normally go to the effort of giving to charity to become willing philanthropists.

Games 4 Girls aren't (Joystiq Nintendo)

Nov 16th 2006 11:40AM @15

Again you're missing most of the point. It harms the industry to tell parents (who are easily marketable to since they're out of the loop in terms of what games are good) to buy these shoddy titles for their daughters. They start to associate gaming with disappointment and as such will not buy games when they grow up.

However if you wave Mario Kart or Bubble Bobble in front of, say, a 20 year old girl now - it might get her back into playing games. Sadly not many girls nowadays are playin the actual good games, they're just playing cheap half-assed titles built on a franchise.

Nov 15th 2006 7:40PM Great article. Not to mention it comes from an informed perspective!

Not that Mercury doesn't work... it just sucks... only mildly, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

Wii box back claims console comes with startup disc (Joystiq Nintendo)

Oct 18th 2006 5:43PM I've gotta agree, it'll be a config utility. However I don't think it'll contain any firmware upgrades. I think the standard config util will continue to be packaged throughout Wii's life, and the initial (and most likely largest) firmware upgrade will happen via WiiConnect24 in the background while you make your Mii etc.

Obviously that would mean internet connection would need to come early in the config process, but that's OK cus what else are Dad's gonna spend Christmas Day fiddling with?

Wii tops PC World's holiday list (Joystiq Nintendo)

Oct 13th 2006 2:20PM Fairly major typo :P

"The people in my local Gamestation said they think their first batch will be 5." I meant 50, doy.

Wii tops PC World's holiday list (Joystiq Nintendo)

Oct 13th 2006 2:19PM The people in my local Gamestation said they think their first batch will be 5. After the first 50 pre-orders they were told to start telling people that they may not get one on launch day, so they may even be hoping for 60-70 units.

Looks like Nintendo's stock situation will have improved by tehy time we hit European launch?
