Google's Chrome beta update brings with it a slew of goodies for the adventurous users who prefer slightly more cutting-edge features over tried-and-true stability. Version 10.0.648.82 hit the beta channel earlier today, and it affected just about every piece of the browser, from the settings interface to the rendering engine.
First and foremost, the already-impressive V8 "Crankshaft" ...

It's now been a couple of months since Google Reader hit Android, which didn't quite live up to expectations. Luckily, developers at Google seem to have been listening to the innumerable complaints, and the app received its first big update today, bringing with it a choice of widgets, more syncing, and more overall functionality.
The widgets are probably the first thing that users may be ...

So apparently VMware heard you like virtualization (or at least, that corporations do), so it made an Android virtual machine that can run inside Android's own Dalvik VM. The idea being, of course, that busy corporate types could play all night on their nifty new Android superphones, but still be able to dive into a minimalist, business-first environment with one tap when it's time to go to ...

Twitter's official Android app got a pretty hefty update today, which brought some added features along with a complete makeover. All in all, the update is a positive move for Twitter, since it brings the app into a more current style of design while giving Twitter Search a bit more prominence and functionality.
For one, the app now bears a striking resemblance to Twitter for Mac, which makes ...

Back in December, we posted a review of the shiny new Skitch 1.0, and part of that was a small bit of lamenting over the fact that once proud beta-testers were suddenly left with the choice of either paying for a subscription to Skitch Plus, or simply losing some of the nicer parts of their favorite screenshot app for Mac.
Luckily, that choice was somewhat short-lived, as former users of ...

It's no secret that Android users are getting a bit testy these days when it comes to OS updates for their phones -- but who can blame them? Only half of them are running recent versions, and Gingerbread is only officially running on one phone.
It sounds pretty dire at first, but where the carriers fail, the Android community tends to pick up the slack. CyanogenMod, one of the most popular ...

Google Wave may be dead as we once knew it, but it looks like Google may be intent on keeping its many Gadgets alive for the long haul. An experiment showed up today on Google Labs called Google Shared Spaces, but judging from what it's been through since it went up on Sunday morning, it may have been entirely accidental.
The idea behind Shared Spaces is a simple one; the old Gadgets ...

Not even 2 weeks after the official unveiling of the Nexus S, Gingerbread's source code is now available to the public. Jean-Baptiste Quero, an engineer at Google's Android Open-Source Project (AOSP), posted the announcement early this afternoon on a Google Groups message board, making Android devs the world over a very happy group of people.
Quero had warned that it would take several hours ...

Words with Friends has been a ridiculously popular asynchronous Scrabble-like game for iOS devices since it came out over a year ago, but word comes from the developers themselves that an Android version is on the way -- and that it's going to be compatible with the iOS version of the game.
Developers at the now Zynga-owned company recently told Android Central that they're working on a ported ...

Del.icio.us has lived a long life -- having been around since 2003 -- but Yahoo! has confirmed the demise of the delectable bookmark service. It comes as no surprise after news of the company's recent layoff blitz, and the Delicious team has been on the list of expected victims for well over a year. It's not the only property getting the "sunset" treatment from Yahoo!, either; Yahoo! Picks, ...

Alright sci-fi fans, it's that time again -- it's been a month since we last heard from the folks behind Pioneer One, and the word then was that come mid-December, there'd be a second episode. Well, it's now officially the middle of December, so let's get campy.
Support from the P2P community hasn't waned in the months since the show's premiere, and may even be stronger than before. BitTorrent ...

One of the nicer Gmail options available to Google Apps users has been the ability to delegate account access to other people. Quite a handy feature for big and small companies alike, but it's something that plenty of average Gmail users could put to good use as well. Fortunately, Google has just announced that regular Gmail users may now do the same, without having to set up an Apps account. Up ...

Facebook just pushed out a much-needed update to its mobile users with version 1.5 of its Android app. This particular update's an important one because it adds two major pieces that were formerly missing: Chat and push notifications. Unfortunately, the push notifications only work on devices running Froyo or newer, and for everyone else there is still a painful lack of notifications for ...

You may remember a Chrome extension that popped up back in October called Facebook Disconnect, written by a Google engineer named Brian Kennish. Well, he's now parted ways with the big G, and he's got a new extension -- simply called Disconnect. This time around, Kennish isn't just targeting Facebook, but all major collectors of personal browsing data -- like Digg, Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo!, and ...
